Not having any real reason to look into it any deeper, Sarah Palin's statement that Revere warned the British that the colonial militias were waiting seemed odd.
But it appears that the popular version is not complete.
In fact, as pointed out at Conservatives4Palin, Revere did in fact tell the British that the colonial militias, who had been alerted, were waiting for them. Here is the original historical text written by Revere (spelling in original, bold added):
"I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms. . ."

Don't forget "... the purfuit of Happineff ..."
Well, they are on the metric system over there. =:-)
several accounts about Paul Revere and his ride:

You can forget trying to explain TRUTH, and historical fact to the left, and to the media. All they care about is the narrative.
The problem isn’t the TRUTH, or even historical fact, folks. It’s the NARRATIVE.
I have seen people who don’t pay much attention to politics at all posting this on Facebook, and the narrative sticks, no matter what you try to say to them. They saw it on TV, so it’s GOT to be the truth.
Such is the world in which we live, now.
I liked the Beck show about the history of slave ownership, and indentured servitude. The first slave owner in the US was a servant who bought his freedom and bought a slave.
They slave and owner were both Eric Holder’s people.
Oh please don’t overreact.
I haven’t seen evidence of Sarah Palin being treated disrespectfully on FR. The only things that have been said was that some don’t think she’s their candidate of choice.
That’s the nature of poliics, we all have our favourites.
The LSM will never eat crow over anything Palin, they will just cover and smother that crow with a thick sauce of more lies
Not being snarky and assume you know that s’s and f’s were used interchangeably back then.
But I also assume the LSM do not know that, so your point is well taken,
Thank you for the site, I’ll spend some time there.
“Don’t forget “... the purfuit of Happineff ...”
LOL!!! They must have written stuff wif peanut butter in their moufs.
It’s only a set up if she comes out ahead...and as of today, I have seen nothing but the stories about her screwing up...if nobody reports the truth and only her supporters know it, then it’s not a win for her..it’s a loss.
I’ve only been here for a couple of month and nice bit on accusing me of being a liar, but whatever.
I haven’t seen any, as I would define an attack. I’ve read people saying that she might need more experience or that she’d be better off running for another elected office or that they prefer another candidates.
These aren’t attacks. You’ve made these evaluations yourself about other candidates.
An attack is a driven and personalized comment that is meant to damage somebody. For example, “Sarah is a dishonest quitter, because she quit her term as governor halfway. She probably does drugs.”
Commenting on her finishing her term early is not an attack, but accusing her of doing drugs is, because there was no basis for accusing her of doing drugs.
I don’t need to read them. I know she’s a capable person.
Far more capable than the team that is cvurrently in the white house.
bttt.
