Forgive me, Freepers, for I have sinned. My sins are many:
1. I linked to my own website, which is a sign of the arrogant belief that people might want to read what I write. Of course, if I didn't think that, I wouldn't write in the first place, so it's hard to see much difference.
2. I "stole bandwidth," though it's hard to see how posting a short exerpt with a link was worse than posting a long article--or how repeated insulting comments don't also "steal bandwidth."
3. I wanted people to "pay" me to be "showered with my wisdom," though my website has no advertising and costs me $299 a year to run, plus untold hours of time.
4. I used too many bullet points--or is it too few semicolons, I forget?
5. I claimed to have a graduate degree, though this couldn't be true, since I expressed myself plainly, in short paragraphs, and never used a $5 word when a two-bit word would do as well.
6. I claimed to have scars from a line-of-duty injury in the Army Reserve, though this couldn't be true either, since "people like me" usually avoid service.
7. Unlike my critics, I use my own name instead of a screen name, because I'm willing to stand up and be counted for what I say, and believe.
8. I assumed falsely that I was among friends, so any differences could be resolved amicably. Instead, I got more anger and vitriol than I ever got from liberals in the years I posted on NewsMax and on my own website. Yes, they occasionally called me "Nazi," but even the most fanatical never threatened violence or called me mentally ill--both of which are ways communists used to silence those who disagreed.
9. I assumed falsely that most conservatives are interested in saving our nation from leftists undermining it from within, and extremist Muslims attacking it from without. But instead, some are too busy squabbling among themselves about who doesn't really "fit in" with their small group--a sure recipe for defeat.
For all these sins, forgive me. My pennance will be to forgo blogging for a month. Perhaps that will be enough time for the anger to subside. Or not.
The leopard print. I got the XLL but it still kinda binds.
Can I send mine back then?
Mine is more cool:
How fair is that?
“GET to”?
That armor is a major pain in the ass. Mostly for photo ops.
You’re not wearing the underwear? There’s your problem right there.
I like the leopard print. Wash it a few times, it loosens up.
So I’m told.
Yeah, it is a bit corny, I’d say.... ;-)
The uniform outfitters are a third party op.
I got no control over them. They wouldn't even answer emails.
Personal experience always trumps conjecture.
On hubby’s biz site, I have AdSense installed.
His site is a very specific niche site, does not get ~anywhere~ *near* the hits FR does yet I make a fair chunk of change every month just from the people who merely ~visit~ his site.
There are no cookies, adware, trackers or beacons installed so I’m not “utilizing the site’s full monetizing potential” as experienced-per-click folks do.
I am content with the ‘pocket money’ I get.
So to say that they do *not* “get paid” for diverting traffic away from a HEAVILY visited and high profile site is fallacious.
I *could* put a clickable link to his site on my profile page and get ‘accidental’ hits from FReeprs but I will not do this.
[I could even just put the URL in my tag line and a lot of people would go, simply out of curiosity]
I refuse to leech from Jim’s hard work.
I have had FReepers ask about the site and then I send them the link, privately.
*If* *I* had some great bit of wisdom to impart to my fellow FReerpers, something that I thought would inspire great deeds or inform of dire needs, I would simply post it as a vanity and let it stand on its own merit, -free-.
*That* is how true conservatives should act; not post excerpts as a means to line their own pockets but to freely offer information/a service in the cause of conservatism.
To call those who oppose ‘pimping’ names such as “liberals”, “Soros plants”, etc etc etc is exactly the opposite of what is actually true.
Patriots -give- of themselves with no expectation of getting -anything- in return.
They give freely and solely for the love of their country.
[case in point, *some* ZOTted blog pimps immediately ran to DU to castigate and condemn this great site...what does that tell you about their -true- motives?]
I greatly appreciate those hard workers who find a news article which -must- be excerpted due to copyright terms and then post the link to the entire article since I do not have time to scour the internet for such things.
Most blogs are monetized for profit which is fine, in and of itself.
The problem begins when the bloggers use a high traffic site to “piggyback” their way to riches.
“Blogging for dollars” is the new ‘get rich quick’ internet moneymaking scheme.
Tons of books tell you how to do it.
Even once free and pure YouTube is infested with annoying for-profit pop-ups and intrusive ads, now.
There are few things you *can’t* find a way to monetize, these days.
This is just how it is.
Some people care enough about keeping FR -free- of the ‘monetization plague’ that they will gladly suffer the slings and arrows of ridicule, hatred and contempt to keep it *free*.
Not a damn thing.
In Hillbilly Heaven, that passes as a formal tuxedo....:)
I saw a blog about that.
Oh, that is -bitchin’-!
I just stuck with basic black leather, studs, chains and whips.
[hey, you use what ya already got, right?]
Well said.
I wish they’d at least try to get what we’re doing here.
“Underwear”?
What’s that?
