They can have their trillion dollar debts all they want. Baby boomers are going away along with our taxes. Hide and watch the economy fail!

Looks like bad times are ahead then. And we have no one to turn to. Palin isn’t in any Hurry to run. SO i my view we are down to Bachmann or Cain or unfortunately Trump for 2012. But even then I don’t expect much. We got nothing out of the election in November so far.

As I tell the younger generations, I’m not going to be around to help bail you out when the bills come due for all the “feel good free stuff” that your politicians are voting for. I’ve been screaming about this since LBJ started the infamous “Great Society” of feel good free stuff.

I'm a 1956 vintage boomer. I've paid max social security for the last 25 years. I expect to do so for another 10 to 15 years. I've never taken a dime of government benefits. Most year my FIT ranges from $38,000 to $70,000. Are your own contributions as a non-boomer even close?

I fear more for the older generations. When the boomers start retiring in mass, do you really think the younger generations (who already inspire little confidence) will foot the bill for the ponzi schemes that are SS, Medicare, and Medicaid? If the boomers use their vast numbers to vote more and more out of the pockets of the fewer and fewer producers, all the young people with skills to sell on the world market will leave for greener pastures. Those that will be left will not have the productive ability to pay the bills. Once taking from wage earners is not enough, the govt will go after the accumulated wealth of whomever still has it. If you are a senior that has saved, your wealth will be nationalized. If you are a senior depending on a govt check, eventually the money will run out.

No chit Neil. You finally figured it out. These guys are all about motoring down the road to the big collapse.

I think you are making Sunshine’s point. There is no pot of money and SS is a ponzi scheme. Once the boomers (who collectively make the most money) stop earning, who’s money will keep the system afloat. The non-boomers simply don’t have the productive capability, especially as America continues it’s socialist suicide, to keep the system solvent. Once the boomers stop paying in, it’s game over for SS.

Every time we get my husband's SS statement and see the all the money he's paid in, I think of this woman...

"On January 31, 1940, the first monthly retirement check was issued to Ida May Fuller of Ludlow, Vermont, in the amount of $22.54. Miss Fuller, a Legal Secretary, retired in November 1939. She started collecting benefits in January 1940 at age 65 and lived to be 100 years old, dying in 1975.

Ida May Fuller worked for three years under the Social Security program. The accumulated taxes on her salary during those three years was a total of $24.75. Her initial monthly check was $22.54. During her lifetime she collected a total of $22,888.92 in Social Security benefits."

I understand there is no pot of money. What gripes me is the way
the “boomers” are tarred as the bad guys when they have shouldered
the majority of money that has beed paid into social security. A very
small number of them have just reached the point of being eligible for
receiving any benefits. A few may get a fraction of the money that was
confiscated from them. I expect to be deprived of most of what was
confiscated from me. Politicians are thieves. The unproductive leech class living off government largess are their enablers.

I’ll add Cavuto to the list of academics, businessmen, and pundits who aren’t buying what Paul Ryan and Barack Obama are selling.
