That rural areas generally require more self-sufficiency, and that urban areas often exploit welfare programs, unions, get-out-the-vote techniques, etc., is a correlation to conservative and liberal values, not causation. You're arguing with youself. You admitted I was right, that rural areas require more self-sufficiency and conservatism, and that's what I said that our problem is rural vs urban.
Myself and my large extended family are very conservative, and we all always lived in or around Philadelphia or other large NE metropolises.
Are you trying to tell me Philadelphia is a conservative stronghold? lol Anecdotal evidence means nothing, there are exceptions to be found everywhere. Stats do matter, and the maps don't lie.

Most of South Jersey has voted solidly Dem in Presidential elections since 1992. Only Salem and Cape May counties are reliably GOP.

Reading comprehension fail. I said you're mixing correlation and causation, and i never said rural areas require "more conservatism". I know plenty of self-sufficient, yet bleeding heart libs that live hours from anything remotely "urban". Geez, just look at Canada!

The South used to be so partisan that nobody would vote Republican because it was the Party of Lincoln. Well those days are over. Lincoln and Reagan were about the same philosophically.

Barry Goldwater was southern and urban (Phoenix). How many southern states did he win?
To: phi11yguy19
Well, there it is. Presidential maps (like statistics) never lie. All you need to do is look at one and you'll have all the information you need to formulate a convincing stereotype. Are you saying the county maps are a big conspiracy?

Geez, just look at Canada!
Different breed.

Most sources had Goldwater polling very well in just about every state, which is one of many reasons JFK was in campaign mode. Something happened in Dallas that may have affected those election results.
Boring discussion. Tall buildings breed liberals, farms breed conservatives. Got it.

LOL! I gotta pass that one along to my wife. Always room to make fun of America's hat. :)

How is your current president anyhow?I voted for the Constitution Party. Not because of the candidate the CP had but because of some of the platform.
McCain was just about as bad as Obama.

Im in that 40%.Same here. In fact in a few years when I retire, I am going to make it a point to join SCV. I can prove 5 ancestors fought, and one died at Shiloh.

And only 3% of the people wanted or fought in the American Revolution .That sound real low. I am in SAR, and through the SAR and DAR databases can see 17 other ancestors who fought.

I am old enough to remember my elderly relatives basically telling me that those from the north can not be trusted. It’s not near that bad now.
