Jiffy Lube sending SPAM cellphone text messages
vanity | 4/22/2011 | vanity

Posted on 04/22/2011 8:45:33 PM PDT by djwright

Today while i was at work I got a spam text message from Jiffy Lube. I was really ticked off.

I called the local Jiffy Lube I go to and asked for the managers number and the hung up on me. So I called the corporate headquarters. (Heartland something in Dallas) and talked to someone in the marketing department.

From her I got the number of the VP for marketing for our region.

I gave him a good long earful and demanded $2 for the text messaging charges. He told me he didn't think this was spam. This is worse than spam since you may have to pay for the privilege.

I am totally disgusted. Direct marketing has already stuffed my mailbox with junk mail, my e-mail with spam and made me ut of my land line.

This needs to stop here. Text messages on my cell phone are too much of an intrusion.

Did anybody else get this message? I will give you the phone number for the regional manager.

Call your cell phone company and complain. they will take the charges off and block the number the message came from.

my local bank, Wells Fargo, called me and left a message for me to call him back at such, such #. Well I had written an unusually large check 1-2 days prior... I call him back and the dude is soliciting me for a credit card and making it sound like I qualified. Like I dont already qualify for a bazillion card offers already. I gave him a piece of my mind...the gall leaving a message and asking me to call him back so I can be solicited!

Yours almost sounds like a “phishing” call and may not really have been Wells Fargo.

Heres the fix...if you can.

My Smart phone bill...47.50 plus fees a month, plus bandwidth for $25....total $72.50

my new phone...Free and 44.50 a month
no “Smart” anything...no texting...nada.

screw them all.
break the addiction.

I have had some success with "spam" phone calls -- I have twice requested money from the caller after repeated calls. Each time I "negotiated" a minimum of $100 for receiving unwanted junk calls. I had to log the calls, demonstrate how I was damaged and so forth -- but after I got a hold of the proper person in the company, I was paid.

I am not sure how texting would work, but if I recieved numerous texts that cost me money, I would make a claim.

My brother was getting spam text messages from various sources. They tacked 50 bucks onto his bill because of 2 or 3 of these crap texts.

He called his provider (verizon) and they told him to immediately text the word 'no' to the source of the message to make it stop.

Happened to me yesterday. I was pissed.

They’ve also telemarketed me while my number is on the “do not call” list. When I pointed that out, they said I was a customer and that I had an established business relationship with them so they COULD call.

I’ve never done business with them and sure as hell won’t now.

Jiffylube sucks.

The guys name is Bob Cahill. He is the NW region marketing VP.

His number is 425-891-2023.

Be polite but let them know you are dis-pleased.

If you are in another region you can call Heartland Automotive:
