The Coupon Whisperer: A Spectacular Few Weeks
The Coupon Whisperer ^ | April 22, 2011 | PJ-Comix

Sorry for the delay in posting to The Coupon Whisperer but I've been incredibly busy for the past few weeks due to a flood of SPECTACULAR deals. During this time I have been able to restock my supply of Ken's Marinade with about 4 dozen bottles. Also I now have enough coffee to last me until well into autumn. Other items which I now have in plentiful supply include olive oil, vegetable oil, dish soap, A/C filters, and TONS of both body wash and Air Wick starter kits including the new odor detectors. Meanwhile, my refrigerator is bursting at the seams with all the stuff I bought including lots of OJ, steaks, hams, beers from Spain, Australia, and Japan as well as wine, and a plethora of other items. Best of all the price was right...namely FREE or better than FREE which means MMs.

Anybody else have theories as to how Missy Eby from "Extreme Couponing" collects 5000 coupon inserts per week? My bet is on having a friend at the newspaper office who turns the unused inserts over to her in maybe a barter deal in exchange for some goods. That sounds like a better barter deal than what I do in trading for jerk pork/chicken.

She took them from my Sunday paper last week.

I try to tell the hubby to make sure there are some in there before spending $2.00 for it. Doesn’t always work.

I had a friend of mine pre-order 50 Sunday newspapers because he wanted a certain coupon. I told him that even though the Web might say an insert would have that coupon, there was no guarantee that the coupon would appear in the local insert because of regional differences. So he gets his 50 newspapers with the inserts. Result: NO coupon. He wasted his money.

I didn’t take our local newspaper until a friend said they had been offered a one-time $26 for a year subscription but it had to be paid in full at the time of order. I said if you only used a 50 cent coupon per week that would cover the cost of the paper, so I called and they first said it was just an offer for February, but “checked with the boss” and said they would still give it to me..... I’ve more than made up the cost with coupons. You might check to see if your local paper has a delivery option just for Sunday that is cheaper than $2 a week.

Oddly enough, until I got the Air Wick starter kits with my coupons, I never used that stuff before. Anyway, on the last day of the deal at Publix, I was able to snag 3 of the Air Wick starter kits with the new odor detector. I set one of them up in my bathroom and I can’t tell you how impressed I was the first time I sat down on the toilet and just as my poop plopped into the toilet, the Air Wick let go with a stream of mist. So that odor detector really does work...and quickly. Now that I am using those Air Wicks, I really appreciate them since it is also great at removing kitchen odors as well.

I don't know but I wish she'd send some my way.

I knew a woman who found out the location of the dumpster where the paper delivery person tossed all of the inserts that hadn’t been inserted. She would come home with stacks and stacks of inserts.

I’ve gone to those down load coupon sites and they only allow you to down load a few coupons per item. Then I tried another site and when you down load to print, it cancels out my other coupon sites print program.

So frustrated......

I’ve always been a “clipper” in moderation. How many bottles of any food can you use up before it goes bad. My main issue with couponing is that aside from cleaning or paper products, most are for foods that are not very healthy, full of sugar, salt and fat. No coupons for fresh fruits, vegies. I watched the program on TV about couponing and was shocked at the amount of really unhealthy food these people bought. Common sense says to shop the perimeter of the stores, stay away from bottles and cans of prepared food and it makes for a healthier diet.

Yeah, that odor detecting starter kit from Air Wick is something new. And quite effective as my case showed. I was joking with a friend of mine about a commercial featuring Yours Truly in a product endorsement. It would go something like this:

NARRATOR: The Coupon Whisperer himself discovered how effective the new Air Wick Odor Detector is when he took his first dump after purchasing one.

(The Coupon Whisperer drops his pants and sits on his toilet. A small groan from The Coupon Whisperer followed by the light sound of a splash as his poop plops into the toilet. This is followed by a closeup of the Air Wick on the window ledge behind him spritzing a stream of scented mist.)

THE COUPON WHISPERER: Amazing! No sooner has my poop plopped when the new Air Wick Odor Detector goes into action!

This could never be shown as a commercial but it really did happen...except for me voicing aloud my amazement which actually happened as a thought.

No coupons for fresh fruits, vegies.

Psst! Think MMs. I got plenty of fresh fruit, including large California strawberries for FREE these past few weeks via MMs.

I’m thinking that Air Wick might have had such a great deal going in order to draw down its inventory of timer and motion detector starter kits to make way for the new odor detector starter kits. I mean those odor detector starter kits work so well, that given a choice, almost everybody would choose them over the previous two. At Publix it was not only FREE with coupons but a $1.01 MM as well. And these were for the BIG starter kits (Ultra) not the smaller compact kits.

I was thinking of couponing again but our little podunk paper doesn't have inserts so printing them would be the only way. So, it doesn't really work? I don't want to do the mail thing because our mail isn't reliable. I've also heard that those who do subscribe to big city papers that should have inserts haven't gotten inserts in years, something about too much bulk or some other lame excuse. And living out in the country, driving into town especially with the price of gas to buy a Sunday paper isn't in the equation. Does anyone have other suggestions?

Although it is odd to find coupons for fresh food, lately in our area we have had a coupon for Cuties (tiny oranges) and for yellow grape tomatoes -
