In the light of what is called “The Birther” movement, these memories are still foremost in my mind concerning this. While I cannot swear it was Barak Obama, all the details I do remember of that chance encounter fit the profile of the man who some people claim is born in Kenya and others claim he was born in Hawaii .
The man I met was about 18, thin, Mulatto, told me he was born in Mombassa, raised overseas, was living in Hawaii and hadn’t yet been to many places in the world outside of those places, mostly, hadn’t been to the mainland of America for any long time period if at all. And he openly told me he wanted to be President.
And I remember that face, the face of a young man who sat on a table to my right front, his hands resting on the edge of the table, him leaning forward, his smile, all teeth. It was Barak Obama. I don’t know if I’d bet my life on it, but I am willing to tell people openly at the risk of my ridicule. I was there, and saw him, spoke to him, and he openly told me he was born in Mombassa, Kenya, not Hawaii."

And Race recalls Barry calling an old man with an apron (hot dog vendor?) “Pops”. That was the title/subject of a poem that Obama claimed he wrote (supposedly penned by one Frank Marshall Davis aka Pops).

I have read Race’s account of this meeting several times in the past few years. He is extremely consistent, and IIRC, he posted it along with several other details on the “long thread.”
He stated that he and the friends he was with were going to gather some photos of their sojourn in Africa to take back to show this young man because they felt like they would be doing the kid a good deed, but for some reason, that sort of fell by the wayside and they didn’t follow through.
I sure wish they had. Might have made a world of difference if he had gotten closer to this guy.
bam is a consummate braggart. There is no telling what he would have said then, but it might be very interesting to know more about his origins and his stated goal from the perspective of his being just loose and running off at the mouth with some Marines he thought he would never see again.

I personally think this guy would tell people he came down from the planet Krypton if he thought he could impress whoever he was talking to.

Ever hear what prosecutors have to say about eyewitness testimony? It isn’t promising. Now what would a prosecutor say about eyewitness testimony about a conversation from 31 years ago?
It’s just that this man is so despicable that just about anything that would give him the hook off our stage is welcome.
And yeah. I know what prosecuters say about eyewitnesses. But this is a little more than a fleeting glance. There was a conversation. obama’s toothy smile is almost legendary. Hard to forget, unfortunately. And the word of a Marine who is trained to observe just might carry some extra weight.

Thanks for the link; I don't know what to make of it. I'm not a Kenya birther. I just know that some things don't seem to add up. I did look up the Senate resolution when they made such a big deal about McCain's and that Obama co-sponsored that. Senate Resolution S. 511, April 2008.
Why did McCain have to show his and Obama got a pass? Oh, I know, the COLB is supposedly valid in Hawaii. But I think it is a fake, and there are different versions of it out there. Why would that be? I don't have a firm opinion on the rest of the supposed documents. I do have an opinion on Trump's. I think they are the real deal.
Now would I support a mogul who represents a lifestyle I deplore? Like that Taj in Vegas which I consider major ugly? Gambling, flamboyant, ostentatious? His kids are really neat, saw the latest YT video on them; Ivanka is gorgeous. The impression I get is, and I don't necessarily mean this as criticism, but his relationship with his children since they were very young has been strictly business. Well, my father drew me into his career as an engineer and farm management as soon as he got back from the war. But we did lots of other things as family.
I wonder what he does for fun? My father escaped to the basement and garage and built stuff. He worked on the design for a dam. I never thought about it, he was so proud of that accomplishment, but I was going through his notebook and wondered how many farmers lost their farms over that and wonder if my father ever thought of the consequences. Eminent domain. So my daughter suggested maybe it benefitted more people downstream. I don't know.
Why do doctors or dentists bother to get their medical licenses?
Why do teachers bother to get their teaching credentials?
Why do lawyers bother to take the bar exam?
All you have to do anymore is ignore any request to produce these, and call anyone who asks a racist.

It's interesting, anecdotal, but doesn't really prove anything. My personal opinion about both of your encounters is that since you didn't know the true identity of the person at the time or any evidence linking you with him specifically, it doesn't prove anything.
I haven't seen anything I'd consider solid evidence yet and, at this point, don't know if I would believe it. It would be good if we could move on from this issue and get back to the business of trying to salvage as much of our country as we can.
Well, I know how you can shove things to the back of your mind, they're not really repressed, but suddenly come to full awareness. I don't mean to dismiss such recollections out-of-hand, don't know anything really about these people, but they don't prove anything without corroborating evidence.
Many of us remember RaceBannon from the earliest times on FR. I don’t know why anybody would smear a Marine and old-time Conservative. RaceBannon said he once met a kid who looked like Obama. That’s all.
It’s not like some AID-infected, crackhead alleged he had homosexual sex with a Democratic Senator from Chicago and the guy has the receipt from the hotel, or had homosexual sex with the Senator again in the back of a limo and the limo driver remembers.
