LONG-TERM climate change could be responsible for moving the Earth's tectonic plates.
A team of scientists based in Australia, France and Germany has established a link between monsoons in India over the past 10 million years and the motion of the Indian plate.
The scientists have found that as monsoons in the area increased the plate moved by almost one centimetre a year.

I'm sure before too long Man-made climate-change will be blamed for volcanic eruptions too..

From my primitive understanding of plate tectonics, the Indian plate broke away from Australia and Antarctica millions of years ago and rammed into Asia, causing the formation of the Himalayas, which are still growing as the Indian plate continues moving northward. How is a one centimeter/yr movement in any way out of the ordinary?

That garners an immediate and solid listing on the "Top 50 Stupidest Statements In The History Of The Earth."

Ok, which one is it, ‘could’ or it ‘causes’ the earth to “move”? These clown scientists and their media lackeys..
To: PROCON
Maybe the motion of the plate caused the climate to change...

I was always told that currents in the magma deep in the earth was what caused volcanoes and plate movement. The heat in the earth is much greater than on the surface. Those that know nothing can believe anything.

OK Mr. Scientist. I believe you. Now tell me why I need to pay more in taxes? Better yet, tell me how you plan on fixing this problem? Even better, tell me what will happen if you try to fix it and get it wrong like you have on every other weather related matter over the last 35 years? But better still, how much money will it cost to fix if you get it wrong?
Then watch the fun as they call me a racist.

I vaguely recall that the Indian plate is still ramming into Asia @ ~15cm/year.
I also saw a show that said the Himalayas are still growing, and as they
thrust up into the atmosphere, they actually sequester carbon as
CO2 combines with Himalayan rock.
Liberals are never happy.
