So just how should they have handled it? Tell us what the winning strategy should have been?
Republicans waive the white flag of surrender
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Boehner os like a moon jellyfish,
No spine.
No confidence in the GOP leadership or dem lite.
Since they “Waived” the white flag, does that mean you are saying they didn’t surrender?
We can beat the Rats with a war of a thousand cuts. Patience will get us where we need to go. This was the Rats time but the Ryan budget will be heard, fought and cutting will happen. We will win the Planned Abortionhood battle. The scam of the EPA and regulating carbon will be stopped. 2012 will be the Mayan end for the Rats and their leftist rule.
Shallow.
Yes! Finally, somebody gets it. Unfortunately, shankbear, that's two of us out of millions.
Die-hard conservatives thought that if I couldn't get everything I asked for, I should jump off the cliff with the flag flying-go down in flames. No, if I can get 70 or 80 percent of what it is I'm trying to get ... I'll take that and then continue to try to get the rest in the future. -- Ronald Reagan
The winning strategy was to find some balls and brains and propose a balanced budget... you know, do their jobs.
The debt shot up by $54 billion in just the 8 days before they caved and cut a whole $38 billion. So we lost even more ground while playing tiddly-winks instead of fighting a war on irresponsible spending.
I don’t think that word means what you think it means.
All very well, but for the next two years, the only way the Republicans can get ANYTHING is to put it on a budget bill or some other bill that HAS TO BE PASSED.
Otherwise the Senate can just derail it, or Obama can veto it.
No way now to defund Planned Parenthood, because it will just be blocked or vetoed. So, evidently we fund abortions and perversion of kids in our schools for at least another year.
Since this was an absolutely bottom line issue for the conservative base, and since they traded it in for something like a one percent cut in the annual deficit, I don’t think that’s much of an accomplishment.
The one who wins a war, usually does it by perseverance and smarter tactics, of which Obama is woefully deficient.
1. The GOP leadership should be there to fight the hard fights and come away as winners. 2. One basic thing I learned in business was to under-promise and over-deliver. The GOP has it backwards. They promise good things and then proceed to substantially under-deliver. Makes them look like weak jerks.
And just exactly how would you have proposed getting it passed in the Senate and then the President signing it.
Die-hard conservatives thought that if I couldn’t get erything I asked for, I should jump off the cliff with the flag flying-go down in flames. No, if I can get 70 or 80 percent of what it is I’m trying to get ... I’ll take that and then continue to try to get the rest in the future. — Ronald Reagan
You mean to tell me that you can't think of a way to beat them over their heads with wanting $1.5 Trillion deficits while proposing NO DEFICITS?
Vote out every incumbent. That is my vote for now on.
I would have let the government shut down then gone on the offensive, letting everyone with a microphone and a pen know that the Commander in Chief cares more about Planned Parenthood than he does the brave men and women fighting and dying for their country. I would have replayed clips of Dems defending PP while saying the army is expendable then let the rage build. Instead we caved because our, ahem, fearless leaders didn't want to be seen as the blame for a budget that was supposed to be passed months before they won any elections.
