I know, lets be "realistic" and parallel animals with the same intelligence and behavior as humans.

I am generalizing, but as a rule Americans are limiting the number of children we have by birth control and abortion so that we now average almost the same number of pets as we do children per household. By doing this we have in essence replaced children with animals.

In the process, we have given the leftists control of the few children we do have, and now they are beginning to act like animals. In the mean time we have given our animals human characteristics.

So, our children act like animals and our pets act like humans. Is it any wonder that in the future we will be a country that our grandparents would not recognize?

American Urban living has also had a large impact on this phenomenon. Cats are easier to keep than Dogs. And people have a tendency to see them as human. Why? Probably somewhat for the same reason as you mentioned.
