What a gal!
Palin never fails to speak the "truth to power(s)!
What the milk-toasts refer as "shooting from the hip."
The beltway types only speak the truth without couching it when they are being filmed undercover.

I love the cowboy poets but Sarah is right on this one. How much help does an old cowboy, sitting on a rocker on the porch of his house writing down rhyming life reminiscences need from Harry Reid?

It’s really sickening that every stupid little thing that the government funds has some beneficiary out there somewhere that will fight tooth and nail to prevent their pet project from getting the axe. And every beneficiary has some sycophant politician who will sell their soul to get another vote, meanwhile we’re trillions of dollars in the red and the one person who will say something about it is smeared and lied about in the media.

Get govt out of poetry! It does just fine by itself.
Out Where The West Begins
Out where the handclasps a little stronger,
Out where the smile dwells a little longer,
Thats where the West begins;
Out where the sun is a little brighter,
Where the snows that fall are a trifle whiter,
Where the bonds of home are a wee bit tighter,
Thats where the West begins.
Out where the skies are a trifle bluer,
Out where friendships a little truer,
Thats where the West begins;
Out where a fresher breeze is blowing,
Where theres laughter in every streamlet flowing,
Where theres more of reaping and less of sowing,
Thats where the West begins;
Out where the world is in the making,
Where fewer hearts in despair are aching,
Thats where the West begins;
Where theres more of singing and less of sighing,
Where theres more of giving and less of buying,
And a man makes friends without half trying
Thats where the West begins.

Yes..it is a national priority because Cowboy poetry is a mating ritual....havn’t you heard that thousands of people wouldn’t have existed without it? No mating ritual..no people
To: Bigtigermike
I’d love to see Sarah run if only to watch the liberals die of brain aneurysms. They deserve no less.

I live outside of Elko where this Festival takes place and thought it silly that there’s tax money supporting it BUT..I started thinking why would Reid bring this Festival up of all the places that the tax payers support? Maybe Harry isn’t as stupid as we think.
Bear with me, this festival is a big deal for the area and does bring in a lot of people. This area is also Republican and votes that way. What better way to piss the county off at the “Mean Republicans” then to tell them the thousands of tourist and dollars are being taken away by them?

Cowboy Poetry. Written via a generous (but unwilling) grant from Western Union.
“And now I lay me down to sleep
To dream what lies tomorrow
Perhaps success
Perhaps defeat
And everlasting sorrow.
For long and hard I've worked for bread
For honor and for riches
But upon my corns too long you've tred
You fine haired sons of b*tches.”

Valid. But somehow... silly.

Well there is a home for “republicans” who don’t want to get off the government tit, it’s called the Democrat party.

you are assuming the festival will not happen without gov money. I'm sure it can get by on its own and the government money is simply a political payback for some one’s reelection campaign

I never knew there was an annual get together of Cowboy poets. Many years ago a group of about six of them (with a sponsor) came to Maui and had a “reading” and I bought about three of their poetry books. Still have them. Nothing as pure as a real cowboy telling a story, usually something he actually experienced himself, and doing it in a artistic manner.
