We knew this was going to happen, didn't we? Good to see the Republicans standing firm against tax increases.

“...it was clear he was unable to get what they called “other stakeholders” to agree to reforms...”

Stakeholders = Unions

At the state level, there seem to be a lot of Republicans who are willing to play some hardball. I am not yet convinced that the US congress will do the same, but perhaps popular support for the state-level politicians will “encourage the others” at the federal level.

I would LMAO at this, but I think we’re going to suffer as a nation when Mexifornia implodes.

My home State is going down. The cause of the problems in this State are Leftists be they Democrats, or RINO’s. Same as the Nation overall.

Jerry Brown is typical of the reason, and cause of most of why we are going down due his first two terms as Governor.

I hardly expected any direction to come from these “talks” with Jerry Brown whose sole direction is, and always has been to divert blame onto others, or other things in effort to dodge any responsibility whatsoever, and claim the kudo’s when he succeeds in BS’ing his way through something.

Anyone can call him “Governor Moonbeam” if they wish, I will always call him “Governor Bullshit”.

Just for info

California has a Dem majority, but state law requires a 2/3 vote for taxes.

Like the Federal Government, California is toast. Unless they can steal more from the taxpayers they will never overcome the deficit. The more they steal and the more they give to buy voters the closer we will slide into a third world State.

I think an “out” to the pension fight is soon going to materialize.

The States are legally obligated to pay those pensions. However, they are under no restrictions about how much they can *tax* those pensions.

That is, “Okay, fine. We will give you your $200,000 pension, because we have to. But we’re going to raise the taxes on your pension to 80%, so it will be just the same as if your pension was only $40,000.”
