Well, I got pretty excited over the weekend when RummyChick ANNOUNCED Walmart's new coupon policy in which they will now be accepting Walgreens Register Rewards. Suddenly a whole new world full of glorious possibilities opened up for The Coupon Whisperer. But first to test out the new coupon policy in actual practice out in the field. Therefore, earlier today The Coupon Whisperer entered the big Broward County Walmart at the corner of Oakland Park Blvd. and State Road 7 armed with a $3 and a $2 Register Rewards.
I didn't want to start out trying anything fancy like a transaction with overage where Walmart would owe me cash change. In fact, I preferred to owe them a little bit OOP just to test out if they were accepting the Walgreens Register Rewards. With that in mind I picked up a bag of sugar and some coffee. When I got to the cashier, the expected happened. She didn't know a thing about the new policy. That was okay so I told her to check with the manager. No rush. I would smugly wait until the manager updated her. I shouldn't have been so smug. It turned out that the manager hadn't heard a thing about the new policy either. Rather than argue the point, I told her that she should check with corporate and that I would return in a couple of days WITH a copy of the new COUPON RULES.

PING!
The Walmart on Oakland and 441? Yikes!
If this isn’t a joke or prank.
Actually, I’m curious whether if the cashier can be coaxed into actually scanning one of these puppies, their system would recognize it now.
What' the matter? The advantage is that it has a supermarket in it.
The opportunities that store offers to post on www.peopleofwalmart.com are endless :)
I never go to Walgreens,but I could.
What is a Register Reward and which of the Walmart rules apply to those coupons?
I haven’t tried yet, since I don’t have any RR left, but I’m worried as to what the reaction from WAGs will be. All it would take is adding the world ‘ONLY’ to each RR to put the kibosh on all of this. Or is Catalina in control of that?
No joke but the biggest problem right now is that many in the Walmart system are completely UNAWARE of the new policy. Actually, I did have a brief fantasy concerning the first manager involving that Annie Hall moment when Woody Allen was arguing with someone on a movie waiting line about what Marshall McCluhan wrote. In the movie he pulled out the real Marshall McCluhan who set the movie guy on the line straight. In The Coupon Whisperer's fantasy, after hearing the manager profess her unfamiliarity with the new coupon rules, I pull out Walmart CEO, Mike Duke, who sets her straight.
p.s. The latter would make for a GREAT "Extreme Couponing" moment on TLC when the series starts up.
I may just have to venture in to WAGS again....this is a very interesting development.
That sooo cool I go to Walgreens and Wal mart I try it “Test it out”
Basically a whole UNIVERSE of possibilities opened up for the Register Rewards. As one example, I stopped at WAGS on Saturday to see if they had Rain-X that I could use my RRs on. No luck. However, when the new policy will allow me to purchase Rain-X at Walmart which is sure to have it. Much vaster inventory.
Remember, with a whole new world of couponing possibilities now opening up due to the new Walmart policy, this is a real good time to get updated on the latest by asking to join The Coupon Whisperer PING List.
Welcome aboard, PINGEE #244.
How is this not a dollar off or % off coupon? If so walmart policy says they aren’t accepted:
Walmart does not accept the following coupons:
Competitors’ coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double- or triple-value coupons
Look carefully at the Register Rewards. They are NOT Walgreens coupons. They are MANUFACTURER’S coupons. Yeah, Walgreens puts their name on the Catalinas but the reimbursements come from the manufacterers.
I had a $3 & 4 RR...WAGS would only take one of them. I thought they took multiples? I still ended up with 1 Downy, 1 Tide stain remover 1 bounce, and 2 candy bards for $5 and change. The $10 RR’s on the products were taken off at the register, plus I had coupons on each item.
Rite Aid takes multiple RR’s. Cause I had $14 in RR’s and got 2 pks of 12 big roll cottonelle and 2 candy bars which also had RR’s.
I’ll try using my RR at my WallyWorld, tomorrow. I’ll report back. The RR’s ARE manufacturer’s coupons...as I was told by the Wags clerk, today. WallyWorld likes (or used) to accept competitor’s ad pricing, so I can see where they’d like to accept Wags RR’s...to take away Wags’ business.
