National Public Radio President Vivian Schiller held a luncheon at the National Press Club today to speak of NPRs new endeavors as well as stating the case why they should not be stripped of taxpayer dollars.
Questions at the event had to be written down beforehand, and were later read to Ms. Schiller by a moderator.
When asked Do you believe there is an imbalance at NPR in terms of liberals and conservatives in the newsroom? If the answer is yes what do you propose to do about it?
Schiller responded by saying they get a tremendous amount of criticism for being too conservative as well and wishes those people could be in their editorial meetings so they could see what goes on. She then states NPRs journalism reflects no particular bias.
After, she says theres no question its a perception issue that some believe NPR is liberal in nature.

These people are running our country.
Thanks for not caring America. :)
This is one manifestation of the mental illness that leads liberalism to deserve the characterization as "the politics of denial."
The problem is everyone NPR hires "perceives" the world through the eyes of Mao Zedung.
The the “reposrters” at the National Press Club guffaw at those assertions?
What a hoot!
Just listen your your local NPR station at the top of any hour...they will have “stories” praising homosexuals, blacks, hispanics, and feminists. Their editors must have little boxes they check before allowing anything on the air.
Republicans are ALWAYS mentioned in a disparaging manner...and Sarah Palin is constantly mocked.
These people must be defunded. If the GOP in the House can’t do this then they can’t get anything done.
Completely out of touch with reality.
Schiller must be channeling Baghdad Bob.
cut out that whores tongue!
Only conservatives are “biased”, don’t you know?
She does protest too much me thinks
