We dont live in a communist country where jobs are assigned according to intellect or bulk. Police and firefighters werent drafted. If you chose to be one, I applaud you but that being said, that doesnt mean you get to tell us how much you get paid because you chose a job that potentially puts your life in peril. If its not worth the risk, I wouldnt blame you at all if you walked, but this job safety-guilt trip sh-- is starting to fall on deaf ears.

My argument against union Firefighters is to let them know that 16-?? aged men and women here volunteer and fight fires for free. I know it’s a concept that drives them nuts. Their argument holds no water here....I however gladly spent money at their two fundraiser dinners in the last two weeks because I feel they do deserve it....however I will not donate to any of the FF PD give me charity accounts.

This is one of the things being addressed in Scott Walker’s full budget bill for 2011-2013 - allowing people without a teaching certificate, but who hold a bachelor’s degree to teach in public schools. The teaching cert, as you probably well know, is tied to having a degree in education.
They start out far higher these days!
The unions always try to use scare tactics and outright lies. One of the biggest is that without unions, businesses are just going to start firing people regularly with no cause. Unions will save your jobs. Baloney. I worked for a union at a major corp, and when the they started cutting down, everyone in my union lost their job. As did many non-union people. The fact is, if you are a good worker and important to the company, you will probably keep your job. If your job is not important, you will probably lose it. That is in a non-union business that wants to survive. The bottom line: unless you’re working for government, unions can’t, and shouldn’t, protect your job.
Right, and it really is a very dangerous job unlike being a LEO which is not even as dangerous of an occupation as being a garbage man.
I judge them by what they do and based on that we all should hate them more than we do. After Obama was elected I felt like disowning my father who is in a union I was so angry but the best way to attack unions is not with anger but with reason. They don’t believe in basic ideas of liberty such as a right to work. They tell members how to vote and suck out dues to push liberal politicians and causes. They want to leave work and then get paid to protest. All of that is contrary to my definition of America. I don’t want America to look like Greece and if we give in we will become exactly that.
That was beautiful. These people act like the world owes them everything and crap on you if they don’t get it.

We need to ignore the “haters”. Great article! =)
Getting off the ‘gravy train’ is hard to do for Union and ‘some’ government members.
A friend of mine is a union electrician. He’s currently out of work and employment has been sporadic for the past three years. We were at a church supper recently and I asked him how much of a difference there was between union and non-union electricians. “$17/hr, he says, but the union provides benefits like health insurance, pensions, etc.” I asked him how much that amounted to on an hourly basis. “Oh, about $6/hr.” Why the $11 difference then? “Because we are UNION electricians!” Ahh, says I.
I hope you don’t mind, but I posted your piece on my FB.
“Hater”? For questioning someone who excerpts from their own site?
The article may be good, but what is the reason for excerpting?
Ah, to drive traffic to his site from FR.
Yes, hater. He has his own blog site, which I have been following for years and posted it correctly in BLOGGERS/PERSONAL......THAT is what the category is used for!
"The article may be good, but what is the reason for excerpting?"
Hence the BLOGGER/PERSONAL forum. If you don't like it, don't read it. No one here is forcing you to.
"Ah, to drive traffic to his site from FR."
No. It's called sharing information. You said yourself the article was good. Why are you so "offended" he shared it with fellow FReepers?
It’s called BLOGGERS & PERSONAL for a reason. It was properly posted. What is your problem?
And what exactly have YOU been doing to spread the Conservative word? B&R has been posting for YEARS, using his own money, and any monies we can give to help support him to spread the word.
Us folks who oppose bloggers pimping their sites for hits have been called jerks, fascists, liberals, trolls, Pelosi-lovers, and Soros plants,...and now 'haters'. Heh heh... :-)
