WI union protester threatens to break Fox News reporter Mike Tobins neck. In another confirmation of how threatening, prone to violence, and bullying the union protesters are, Fox News Mike Tobin was threatened with the breaking of his neck while making a live report. This occurred late yesterday during the opening minutes of Fox News Fox Report, which even prompted the host to exclaim how surprised she was that union thugs were making threats on live TV. This kind of maltreatment by the Democrat-voting union crowd in Wisconsin has been par for the course for Tobin, who has been reporting from there for the last few days. Most shocking of all is how the union crowd of protesters is beginning to look more and more like the wild Arab protesters in Egypt during the last few weeks.

OK, so what happens if a National Guardsman attempts to forcibly remove a protester, and an off-duty cop among the protesters threatens to arrest the Guardsman for use of excessive force or some such? Or threatens retribution by his brother officers? The potential of something like that occurring might be enough to give pause to officials thinking of using force to evict protesters.
Then what? If a group of thugs attack individuals physically, people will defend themselves, with lethal force if necessary. Then all hell will break loose.
In the clip I saw he was surrounded. Here’s the link from yesterday when he got hit in case you missed it.

Yeah noticed that after I posted!!! Oh well. But if it gets the point across...I can live with it.
Love it.
This country has withstood any number of insurrection, with the effects usually being rather geographically limited.
Not to say that the scenario you describe would be small potatoes, it would be a big deal, indeed. But I don't think the consequences would be widespread violence.
After the idiot governor of Louisiana screwed up calling for federal help, in the aftermath of Katrina, the federal government modified the Posse Commitatus law and also the law that regulates the procedure for sending federal troops to a state. Used to be, the state had to declare emergency and ask for federal assistance. The new law (courtesy of Bush II) give the president the power to step in on his own volition.
