Why would anyone like Sarah Palin?

You obviously know nothing of the natural law basis for our free republic.

Our rights come from God. Those rights preceded and supercede any constitution or man-made law. The founders of this republic understood this very, very well.

And, they understood explicitly that the raison d'être, or reason for being, of ALL human government is to protect those rights.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men..."

That is the basis for our form of government and our claim to liberty. I'm very sorry that you, and politicians like Sarah Palin, are disconnected from what the founders called "self-evident," or, to use the modern vernacular, "as plain as the nose on your face."

You’re losing it. Just because you cannot answer the most fundamental questions that have to do with republican self-governance, in the American sense of those words.

Sarah Palin is your plumb line, not the God-given natural law, not the principles of the Declaration of Independence, and not the U.S. Constitution. It’s very sad, but a vivid demonstration of what the combination of unprincipled leadership and unthinking, unprincipled followership can produce.

By the way, I don’t expect perfection. Just adherence to the simple requirements of the oath of office to protect the life, liberty and property of the people. All the people.

You pontificate about caring about the unborn and insult those here and born who don't agree with you??? You should learn a bit about respecting others and following the golden rule.

Sadly people like you may get your wish and have all rights flow from a central Federal Government... and NO Virginia they aren't Santa Claus and they can decide that your rights are NOT inalienable and do NOT flow from God!

I fully realize from whence our rights flow, I am also a realist and can discern that those self same rights are in dire jeopardy by the self same Feds that are sworn to protect them.

So... what are we left with? We "punt" to the States... and the States can protect what the Feds have chosen to destroy.

I don't support the Pauls. In fact, Sarah Palin stands in perfect agreement with them, and John McCain, that states' "rights" trump the unalienable right to life.

Although, there are some signs that the new Senator is starting to get it, finally. We'll see.

I don't. All I have to go by is your words in your post. And your claims are ludicrous. States' rights do NOT supercede the God-given, unalienable rights of the people.

All officers of government, at every level and in every branch, have a sworn duty to protect the unalienable rights of every person within their jurisdiction.

To claim otherwise is destroy the very basis for this free republic and for our claim to liberty.

Why are you laughing? Palin and the Pauls have been primary proponents of the idea that the unalienable right to life can be left up to the states to decide.

This is the exact moral equivalent of the Stephen A. Douglas Democrat position on slavery in the 1850s, and the exact same position that Gerald R. Ford took on abortion in the 1970s.

It is one hundred and eighty degrees opposite of the Ronald Reagan personhood of the child, Fourteenth Amendment position; a plank that still resides in the Republican platform to this day.

You are speaking of clouds whilst others are discerning the battle on the ground. You live in the "My Little Pony - Rainbow Brite" world of what should be and others are looking at the ugly truth.

I admire your ideals, but ideals can get us all killed if they are not backed up with the hard cold reality of the fight we are facing. Trusting as per your words: "All officers of government, at every level and in every branch, have a sworn duty to protect the unalienable rights of every person within their jurisdiction." is folly, as those you are trusting are fallible. And I must say that fallibility has never been more evident than in these times!

I use to wonder how the good people of Germany could follow a monster like Hitler. Recent events in this country (the image of Pelosi and friends marching through the square with the large gavel come to mind) have answered this for me. Our educational system has been nothing but a propaganda tool for so long, it has spawned new generations of voters who have absolutely no idea of what you speak of when it comes to inalienable rights.

We are faced with taking things back to the local level so that families can reassert their values and patriots can reassert their true understanding of basic AMERICAN principles of freedom.

Your evaluation of the cold reality we face seems to be "go with the flow" after all, the public servants have promised to protect our "inalienable" rights. Do you really trust this?

That’s all ignorant nonsense. The people who are actually fighting on EVERY front, including at the state level, are the personhood people. Politicians who take a pro-choice for states position just don’t show up out in the trenches at all. I know from experience this is true. Primarily because their position is nothing more than political cover. It’s not in any way a serious pro-life position. It can’t be, because it destroys the only moral, constitutional and legal arguments there are against the practice of child-murder.

Sir/madam... I beg to differ. The ignorance is on your side. Respectfully, you have not a clue as to what is truly happening in this country. You sir/madam are living in a little glass bubble, refusing to believe what others are trying to alert you to. This has nothing to do with who the next GOP candidate will be, it has everything to do with understanding the reality on the ground.

I quoted what you said and said that it was folly for you to trust these self same sworn officers of government to protect your rights... did I not? So I was just imagining it last year when Governor Sarah Palin campaigned for all those conservative candidates? She wasn’t “in the trenches” like you and your “personhood” team? I need to go back and re-research the 2010 election it would seem. You folks were the ones who took back the House, right?
