At Clinton Speech: Veteran Bloodied, Bruised & Arrested for Standing Silently As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday, condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt. Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, So this is America? As you see, Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.

Liberals: They want protest unless its agains’t them.
The Washington Post reported that, in his testimony, McGovern "declared that the United States went to war in Iraq for oil, Israel and military bases craved by administration 'neocons' so 'the United States and Israel could dominate that part of the world.' He said that Israel should not be considered an ally and that Bush was doing the bidding of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. 'Israel is not allowed to be brought up in polite conversation,' McGovern said. Genuine criticism of official Israeli policy is often portrayed as if it were anti-Semite bigotry: 'The last time I did this, the previous director of Central Intelligence called me anti-Semitic.'
When asked on TVNZ whether Julian Assange was a hero or villain, he replied "Hero", and has co-written an open letter of support for WikiLeaks and Assange.
This does sound like the way the Clintons work. Anyone who said anything Clinton didn’t like got arrested and shut up. Those two were the worse hypocrites in the world during their reign of terror, and did anything they liked - and got away with it. I’m just perplexed that even some on here seem to long for the bad old days of the Clintons. Not me!! I suppose Hillary was scared of the man and her entourage had to go after him so he couldn’t look directly into her eyes.
His bruises look like those elderly people get easily cause their skin is so thin. I doubt anything he says in true. I will not stand up for him.
Awful!
The 1960’s et al McGovern? That one? Is that Looney Tunes still around???
I am also a vet. The difference is that I am not a traitor nor do I support espionage against this country.
More awful that he’s a liar.

That’s the best part! Leftists attacking Leftists.
McGovern is a Code Pink lefty.
Dude!
Standing up and turning one's back on the speaker amidst a seated audience is a standard leftist tactic and it most certainly is a disruption.
If you want to argue that it is a "small" disruption and that this makes it acceptable that is one thing. (I disagree that any deliberate disruption is acceptable, btw.)
But the plain, simple fact of the matter is that this protester was deliberately disrupting the event.
Should have guessed such. The “Vets for Peace” made me wonder.
You shouldn’t turn your back on leftists, they are mentally deranged and dangerous
Ok, missed the first part. I was so PO’d about what happened I didn’t see the first name. Just saw the name McGovern and jumped to conclusions too fast.
'When an invited speaker is the object of protest, demonstrations may occur outside the university building, facility or space where the lecture takes place, subject to additional requirements found in the universitys demonstration policy.
'A man, who is not affiliated with the George Washington University, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by the George Washington University Police Department (GWPD) and was charged with disorderly conduct after violating the universitys demonstration policy during a speech by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on campus.
'Shortly after the Secretary began speaking, the man stood up from his seat blocking the view of guests and media.
'When asked twice by a GWPD officer to leave, the man refused. As a result, he was escorted by GWPD out of the building and was placed in the custody of the Metropolitan Police Department.'
how was he disruptive?
No. It is not George McGovern.
Ray McGovern is pure filth, here’s something to give you an idea....

Read my post #35. The University police are the ones who bundled him out for violating university policies.
I know what you mean. I can feel myself getting to that boiling point. I have to step back for awhile and take a breath.
