A request by Representative Darrell Issa (R-Calif), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, for testimony on the Presidents stimulus package was rejected by the White House. At issue was the so-called Romer-Bernstein report (authored by Jared Bernstein, Vice President Joe Bidens top economic adviser, and Christina Romer, the former head of the White House Council of Economic Advisors). The report portrays the stimulus package as a great success. The White House has cleared Romer and Bernstein to appear on television to discuss it.
If they can go on TV why cant they testify in Congress? asked Issa spokesman Kurt Bardella. With unemployment at 9%, home foreclosures at distressingly high levels, and government budgets at all levels bleeding red ink wed like to hear more about the reasoning behind the idea that the package was a success.
Obama spokesman Reid Cherlin explained that it is the GOPs persistently hostile attitude toward the Presidents agenda that is blocking the requested testimony. Why should Romer or Bernstein be thrown into the lions den at a Republican hearing when we can still get our message out through a more friendly medium?
The Administrations refusal to allow the testimony is part of a conscious policy of non-cooperation said Cherlin. The President was elected with his own mandate from the voters. He doesnt have to answer to these guys. If they dont like it they can try impeachment, but given that they couldnt get that done against a perjuring fornicator, I think we can be confident of how that will end up against our first Black President.

Another good one John.
Nail on head. Not really satire.
The line is no longer a sharp discernible line with this present administration.
So why did the auto execs and the oil execs have to come hat in hand to testify in front of the Congress? If the -resident and his czars don’t have to show up and answer legitimate questions about their outrageous power grab and lying reports, then no one should have to testify before Congress in the future.
Okay, okay...you got me. But it will probably turn out to be true anyway.
Congress needs to use its subpoena power.
Anyone ignoring a Congressional subpoena gets a visit by a Federal Marshall who drags the scofflaw into the hearing in chains.
Got me AGAIN! Nice!!
“Is it satire or not?”
Only the veneer is satire... sadly the substance is true!
How about a BIG (SATIRE) in the subject line or in a different forum?
Wouldn’t we save a lot of time, deprive the MSM of thousands of sound bites, and save millions of dollars in attorneys fees, for swearing out sub-poenas and process server fees if we all just agreed on both sides not to call Executive Branch Critters before Congressional Committees. It will never happen. And such attempts are so banal.
Really good. You got my heart rate up for most of the posting.
Finally toward the end I went back and looked where the posting came from.
This is satire, but the zer0's have probably learned from the Clintonistas. They were masters of lying to the media (not illegal), and pleading the fifth in a Congressional hearing where lying is illegal.
These criminals one by one need to be brought to justice and NOT SOCIAL JUSTICE! Do ya hear me Rangle, Conyers, and waters your included, affirmative action comin back at ya, watch out!
Shoot! When Democrats have the power, they pull Republicans up for grilling before Congress and lecture them like Ned in the First Reader.
It’s not satire because this is what they really think.
