Yesterday, I wrote a blog post on Nir Rosen, a fellow at NYUs Center for Law and Security, and his outlandish comments he made of the sexual assault of CBS correspondent Lara Logan on Twitter- which I posted on Big Government as well. Jim Geraghty from National Review and Steve Nelson at the Daily Caller did the same.
This statement was just received from NYU:
From Karen J. Greenberg, Executive Director, Center on Law and Security
Nir Rosen is always provocative, but he crossed the line yesterday with his comments about Lara Logan. I am deeply distressed by what he wrote about Ms. Logan and strongly denounce his comments. They were cruel and insensitive and completely unacceptable. Mr. Rosen tells me that he misunderstood the severity of the attack on her in Cairo. He has apologized, withdrawn his remarks, and submitted his resignation as a fellow, which I have accepted. However, this in no way compensates for the harm his comments have inflicted. We are all horrified by what happened to Ms. Logan, and our thoughts are with her during this difficult time.
Rosens comments were most likely directed at Lara Logan in retaliation to her defending General Stanley McChrystal last year after a controversial Rolling Stone interview- given his past TV appearances in which he would defend Al Qaeda.
Here is Rosen appearing on Russia Today saying that Al Qaedas threat to the U.S. is a lie.

Is he the one who said: “If Anderson Cooper was the journalist raped in Cairo, that would actually have been funny”
Does anyone really know what happened to her, I mean really know. didn’t think so
Psst! Nir Rosen your mask has slipped.
Sooo did he resign as a tenured professor or only as a fellow?
True.
Thanks to the lib’s relentless debasement of the language: the term “sexual assault” now runs over an incredible gamut.
Including - BTW - that 5-year-old boy who touched a girl’s bottom a few years back, and who is doubtless still on the sexual offender list.
But I don’t doubt something very nasty and sordid happened. And I blame Islam for it, not the reporter.
Yes, he is.
The left is the coalition of degenerate perversions, mutual support is required, or SOMEBODY goes off in a snit.
How could an apologist for the ROP possibly be provocative?
Yes, he said that re Anderson Cooper. He was very crass and way out of line.
I’ll tell you this, Dennis Praeger this morning reported that as they attacked her they were screaming “Jew, Jew!” She is not Jewish. He also said the Middle east is so anti semitic that the word “Jew” is considered the foulest epithet you can use.
He also said CBS covered up what happened and he intends to find out why. Good luck. In broadest terms they cover things up because they are not a news organization.
Rush discussing some of his comments now.
I can’t link to a source but I inferred from what I read that she was gang raped.
Since she is apparently still in a hospital recovering I must assume it was pretty physically as well as, obviously, psychologically damaging.
One isn’t hospitalized for days for a minor molestation of some kind.
I’m sure those vile Islamist vermin made sure Ms. Logan would never be able to have children again. They don’t think of women as people but rather only gross flesh.
I hope Ms. logan makes it her personal rest-of-life mission to expose the perrils of islamic hatred of women.
I lived in Africa a good many years and the Western women in our colony were always very, very careful to dress down when going out being careful not to show much skin.
It was a known fact that the locals were offended by uncovered women. It amazes me that as much importance as the culture attaches to the burqa that Westerners simply think they can come in and dress like Western womwen do. That is like a total afront and an in your face statement.
In comes this female reporter completely oblivious to the local customs going into a hostile crowd environment and thinking that she can dictate the way it is going to be.
Mobs once gripped by mass hypnosis will do untinkable things to scapegoats.
As I said it amazes me that journalists are not a bit more careful. It also amazes me that they are making a big deal out of this but when Sarah Palin gets pummeled by daily death threats she is told to grin and bear it.
What a double standard.
I hope Ms. logan makes it her personal rest-of-life mission to expose the perrils of islamic hatred of women.
That will be day. I can’t wait to hear the apologetics or the crickets.
These are media people and they aren’t changing their agenda.
All the “stars” wanted to get their ticket punched.Regular
correspondents were being harassed, detained and beaten.
Sending women into that situation was irresponsible.
My husband read something on internet yesterday (statement from her or family?) that said she was NOT raped. But I have no source or link, something he was reading online. So I am curious as the extent of the assault, as well.
