Freshman Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) gave a speech to close this year's Conservative Political Action Conference that earned a more enthusiastic reaction from conservative activists than those given by most rumored 2012 presidential hopefuls over the past three days.
The first-term congressman brought the audience to its feet several times late Saturday, repudiating President Obama's social and economic policies and promising "a new dawn in America."
West took the coveted speaking slot that was rejected by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who declined to attend CPAC for the fourth straight year.
West, who represents a district that voted for President Obama in 2008 and Sen. John Kerry in 2004, will be a top Democratic target next year and opened his speech by noting the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already run a radio ad in his district.
Unfortunately, I don’t see anyone in 2012 to challenge Obama. Best chance is if Hillary decides to challenge Obama for the democratic ticket, that could weaken the demos. with a tough and nasty campiagn, and give the republicans a better shot.
I really like the guy but why oh why did he have Mark Foley introduce him at his new Palm Beach office?
Home run, Rep. West!
Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Can I be honest? Nearly the same thing was done during the Bush campaigns.
He is brilliant. He is what we need.
I see Drudge has West headlined. He deserves kudos for this speech no matter how much primary infighting is going on.
I would guess, Drudge headlines only count if the political groupies happens to like the headline...
The rumor mill is saying that Kucinich will challenge Obama.
He is a train-wreck he only thinks he can win. Look at Obama’s poll numbers and actions. Don’t believe the media hype of him in any 2012 polls.
I think Trump sounds good at this stage. I am open. The super bowl is a long way off to cheer lead do or die for one candidate.
The GOP ticked me off but the opening of CPAC put the tea party at the top so I have hope.
I like Palin very much; but I like Allen West and Herman Cain just as much and I see a leader in Allen West. Most likely a winner too. I don’t care what their gender or their skin color is.
B U M P
I don’t know if it was done during the Bush campaign; but I do know if we keep letting the Left dictate to us; we are done.
We need to concentrate on who we want and why. Post articles about this; not what idiotic reporter or Obama or any of the rest says. Every time I go anywhere; it’s the same thing over and over again. A worthless POS saying something about us or what we like, think or what we want. We are to engrossed in this. We need to get out of it or we won’t have anything.

O.K. I am going all in. Allen West for President.
thanks
His main problem is lack of name recognition and of course the Dems would say lack of experience, but I'd put his real world experiences against Obama’s community organizing any-day.
Me too. We need to organize. If Ron Paul can attract his RonBots, surely West would attract a larger group of enthusiastic campaign supporters.
What does Col. Allen West say about LTC Terrence Lakin? Has he made any statements regarding Obama’s eligibility to hold the office of POTUS?
