It was pandemonium in Tahrir Square in Cairo as the news spread like wild fire, Mubarak has stepped down! This was an unbelievable, awe inspiring event and perhaps one of the greatest moments in human history for people power.
Words can't explain the euphoria of so many people and political groups united in an almost delirious happiness. It was truly a watershed moment.
They should enjoy their great victory while they can because tomorrow when the sun rises there will be a new reality and a new beginning. The path they have chosen will have many twists hiding hijackers and bandits ready to steal their new found power.
Among the potential bandits is the political arm of Islam. These are the fundamentalists and this is exemplified by the Muslim Brotherhood. It is estimated that upwards of 20% of the Egyptian population supports this oldest of all fraternal Arab orders.
Leon Panetta, head of the CIA, tells us they are mostly a secular group and fairly moderate, which then begs the question why do they call themselves a religious organization and why are Egyptians so wary of them? And then there are other factions from Iranian sponsored Shiites, Al Qeada to Lebanon's Hezbollah, all vying for a piece of the action. But for now, the Egyptian army is in change and there is peace.
There is little doubt that the shift towards democracy will be messy, it always is; and it remains to be seen how many challenges and how much insecurity will be tolerated in their quest for freedom.
I wish them much luck - they will need it.Add to moron, most likely a leftist.
He actually believes the Obama spin via Panetta/Clapper that the moslum brotherhood is "mostly a secular group and fairly moderate."
Harumph, they want to drain the canal, stop the oil from flowing, destroy Israel and started Haas and Hezbollah---they are a terrorist organization and FOBOs...Fiends of Barack O's
Shift towards democracy is a joke.
It's a try at a shift towards Sharia law.
This is a disaster for US interests, and the Middle East as well. It will go downhill from here. The only possible good that can come from this is if the full scope of the disaster becomes apparent before our 2012 election so BO can be awarded full credit. The Egyptians will end up in chains, as miserable and oppressed and (still) poor as the Iranians, with mullahs cracking the whip over their lives.
Oh puh-leeze!

I bet there won't be any democracy or people rule. They will just go from one bad ruler to a worse one. Look at all the other revolutions in the world. The Russians threw out the tzar, only to end up with the mass murder Stalin. The Chinese replaced their leaders with Mao and millions died and they live under communism. The French got rid of the king and then had to live under Robespierre who went chopping off heads of those who disagreed with him. The Iranians threw off the the Shah and are now stuck with the ayatollah and Ahmadinjad. The notable exception is the American Revolution, because America based her principles on the Bible.
Who’s party line are you towing?
IBTZ
But...but...I thought EVERYTHING the media said was true! /s
It obvious that you don't know Jack!
(ducks & runs 8^)
Dude!
Your Turnip Truck is leaving without you!
These “freedom lovers” stood by Saddam and Sons, the Taliban, and cheered 9/11.
That's EGGS-JACK-LEE what I was thinking.
They will wake up tomorrow and find nothing has changed.
