Huckabee Quietly Exiting (or Ramping up for) 2012 Race?

Huckabee Quietly Exiting (or Ramping up for) 2012 Race?

In what could potentially be a huge indication of Huckabee’s future political plans (or lack thereof), Huckabee’s presidential committee Huckabee for President, Inc has filed termination paperwork with the FEC.

The report was filed with the FEC on 1/31/11 at the time other political committees were filing their usual year-end reports, and can be viewed here.

On that same date, Huckabee’s team filed a regular year-end report for Huck PAC — meaning that Huckabee has made the intentional decision to continue Huck PAC operations while ceasing the operations of Huckabee for President, Inc.

Huckabee for President, Inc was founded in April of 2007 and has been filing regular quarterly or monthly reports with the FEC until now.

I must add an important caveat: as I am not thoroughly versed in FEC campaign laws, it is not precisely clear what this filing means – but we will keep digging to find out. Closing this committee could be indicative of Gov. Huckabee retiring old debts incurred in his 2008 presidential run in order to open a new committee for his 2012 campaign, or it could simply be the settling of old accounts. The timing, however, is interesting. Stay tuned for more details and analysis as the situation becomes more clear. As Drudge says, developing…

This comes from a pro-Huckster blog (or at least a very anti-Palin blog)

It's interesting to read the denial from the sycophants in the comments section ...

NOT my blog, I ain't pimpin' nothin'...just found it interesting. The reality is starting to be realized.

The reality I speak of is this:

Huckabee is NOT running.

The field will clear rapidly once Sarah declares.

She'll vacuum up all the political contributions. There won't be much left over for ruling-class candidates.

Dear God, you know that I pray for your assistance but I very rarely ask you for favors. That said, PLEASE let this true.

We don’t need Huck or Romney. The media wants either. Which is why I don’t want either.

Sarah vs Romney similar to Reagan vs Bush......all we need is a Gerald Ford kind of guy who is a consensus by Establishment types running around trying to pick up support

Actually, Rudy Giuliani has said he would run ONLY if Governor Palin runs.

He knows he would split the moderate vote with Flip Floppney, thus allowing Sarah an unobstructed run to the nomination. (he’s vying for a slot in her administration. VP or Attorney general?)

With Huckabee out of the equation, you can add a majority of his support to the Palin column. She automatically becomes the front runner by a wide margin.

So much for being unelectable.

I too believe it may be Palin related. She has not made the move, so really the smart ones can’t either if their own chances depend on what she is going to do. A lot of them have her platform in one way or another, but to put it out there and be her clone so early is not going to work for them. They have to compete against her and that may be risky to them for primary race purposes.

I will be glad when she makes up her mind.

Yeah.

This was kind of the cherry on top of all the speculation that he wouldn’t run.

On a related note, I’ve told you I’m in Iowa...the grass roots are starting to grow out here...

:-)

Huckabee has been in Israel recently. He has had several reasons to rethink his particular place in the future race for the presidency. If he does indeed decide NOT to run, we might look back and see Huckabee, at this point, as making a truly patriotic and selfless choice.

It is certain that the party does NOT need a Romney. It’s also notable that Pawlenty has been cutting into Huckabee’s support in Iowa, and Romney has more support in both New Hampshire and even South Carolina right now. However, If Huckabee were to step back, and to support a truly viable Conservative candidate — along with other notable Conservatives — Bachmann, Pence, Demint, etc... Then the Conservative/Tea Party wing would very possibly be able to overcome the headwinds they will face from the RINO’s & Blue Blood in the Republican Establishment.

My Conservative candidate of choice is Sarah Palin — no one else is even close. But there is still plenty of time before she needs to decide, before the presidential race begins in earnest.

“Huckabee is NOT running.”

Let’s hope.

He seems like a nice guy, but I’d never vote for him.

Elmer Gantry is a fraud, a socialist, and doesn’t deserve to be dogcatcher let alone president.

I don't know how to say this properly, but if Huckabee is running, he ought to start losing weight right now. He doesn't have a serious face for the job with that goofy smile of his and his suits are crumpled and ill-fitting at the moment.

Hopefully, neither Palin or Huckabee will run.

That would allow Romney to waltz to the nomination unfettered.

No thanks.

If we want a real conservative this time, we need to rally around a single candidate early. A vote for anyone other than Governor Palin is a defacto vote for Romney.

The problem is Schmuckabee is polling strong, the social conservatives love him, and he’d be a disaster for the GOP and conservatism. I really hope he doesn’t run.
