PHOENIX Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is urging his uniformed deputies to use caution when eating at McDonalds restaurants following an alleged incident in Mesa.
The Sheriffs Office says a uniformed deputy was verbally harassed in Spanish by McDonalds food handlers Thursday.
The deputy says both he and Arpaio were accused of being racists.
The deputy confronted the workers in Spanish about their remarks and refused to accept his food order as a precaution.
Arpaio says the restaurant was targeted for an employer sanctions investigation last March when four people were arrested for identification theft.
The franchisee of the Mesa McDonalds says he takes the allegations seriously and is gathering facts.
Richard Coulston says McDonalds has a zero tolerance policy against discrimination of any kind and his restaurant is no exception.
Well, no more McD’s for me.
But I had noticed they are all being "taken over".
I think I’ll be doing a personal bonzai boycott of McDonalds for a while. It won’t hurt them but it will sure make me feel a hell of a lot better. Obviously, McDonalds is a “racist” place to eat. I don’t need any politics from an illegal alien with my burger and fries.
“The deputy ... refused to accept his food order as a precaution.”
Good thinking.
Don’t ever forget the Phoenix media and the local politicians hate Arpaio. So this little story probably is only the tip of the iceberg. If I were a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy, I think I would start brown bagging my lunch.
Why would you harm the McDonalds franchise owners because of what their low-life employees are doing? Neither are the owners responsible for stolen IDs used by job applicants.
McDonald’s has dog s**t “food.” Chick Fil A needs to open up there.
phony investigative reports of What would you do program?
I don’t understand: they want the “right” to commit identity theft? They really do want to turn our country into a criminal enterprise, like Mexico.
Last time I was in a McDonald's half the people behind the counter were speaking Spanish...That was years ago, never went back since.
They need to supervise their franchisees. Where was the manager? I ate at one in Scottsdale and it was “hey sir I no speaky so good english I theenk?”
The local franchisee has said that he expects his employees to respect the general public as well as law enforcement officers. He made no excuse for the idiot. We don’t know what’s been done internally. We think the restaurant is owned by a man who went to the same high school we did. If it is, we have no doubt he fired the employee.
Well I agree with that. The owner can’t be at more than one restaurant at a time but the individual managers certainly are. Maybe a manager needs fired?
I thought they were hanging out at Dunkin Donuts? The coffee there is way better and everyone knows cops love donuts (although the best donuts in Arizona are RAINBOW donuts - Cave Creek Rd and the other one is on 7th Street just below Dunlap!)
I stopped going to fast food restaurants in Fort Worth. The counter clerks’ English is so poor the order is usually screwed up. They are incompetent. Why should I have to speak Spanish in the USA to get good service?
I have personally dealt with McDonalds. They are a top rate first class organization. They will deal with this. Trust me.
