John McCain, so called maverick who at every turn has used his political capital to move this nation far left in the name of moderation.
I worked for his campaign in 2008 because of his VP choice, and knew the background of the person he was running against.
Immediately, I saw how unorganized his operations were and it seemed to me they were just going through the motions.
The more I heard John say we need to tone down the rhetoric, the harder it became to show up and make calls. But once again I knew there was a promising star being born, and well you see what the alternative has gotten us.
McCain who had been on the Senate floor warning of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mack was running against a candidate who's life as a community organizer was directly involved for pushing this marxist, home ownership policy that would lead to the inevitable collapse of our financial markets.
As the markets began to unravel just before the election, McCain not only stood silent but handed the high ground over to Obama.
After one of the most pathetic campaigns ever run, the same McCain people who refused to criticize Obama for the historic nature of his presidency, began attacking the only light in his campaign, Sarah Palin who's family was being thrashed on a daily basis.
No response from McCain.
I felt so dirty having spent any time trying to help a man who is wrongly characterized as an American hero, he is nothing but a traitor to the US Constitution, sovereignty of this nation and freedom loving Americans.
I don't care what this man went through, I could pick the average Joe off the street and they would have more of the America spirit running through one vein then this man has in his entire body.
His ideology since coming back home is more in line with his captors then the nation he claims to be a hero of.
The games continued as he coordinated a critical comment at Obama to where Obama basically handed him the reelection by saying "John I won the election".
Within hours of that comment liberals were coming on FOX news, saying that after that exchange, it would be very difficult for his opponent in the senate race to tie John as the establishment candidate he was.
So the same fire that John refused to spark during a campaign against a marxist extremist, was unleashed along with millions of left over money from 2008 against a conservative Arizona.
Sarah Palin who was elevated to the national stage by McCain campaigned for him, while I was not happy about that, I understood that she had no choice and in the end.
Now Mccain comes out and returns Obama's favor in helping him get reelected in the senate by saying how much our dear leader has been moving to the center as he has run up over 3 trillion dollars in debt in 2 years, passed 9000 pages of suffocating laws which will be followed by 90,000 pages for the implementing these stalinist laws, trashed the American people at every turn, gone against the will of the people at every turn and on the verge of successfully collapsing our system.
He says that he will not support another candidate for 2012(Palin), he is content with the current state of this nations collapse.
John, I can't think of another American in the history of this nation that so resemble Benedict Arnold as you do sir.
You have endorsed the fundamental transformation of this country and millions of Americans will never forget what you have done when your nation really needed you; you threw more gas on the fire and attempted to vilify the American people for wanting to live free.
You are more concerned about what the radical liberal left thinks about you or will write about you in the history books than a free America.
America is hanging off a cliff, instead of reaching out to lift her up, McCain jams a boot down on her.
Sorry my friends , I am so very disgusted with people like this. and felt a need to jump aboard the real straight talk express.
I do so agree with your description, “A National Disgrace”.
I don’t understand how McCain was able to dupe so many people with his obvious about-face just to get re-elected.
I suppose we’re going to see the same farce put over about Obama “pivoting to center”. McMouthpiece will do all he can to push that lie in the coming months and, sadly, a lot of people will swallow it hook, line and sinker.
If I see McMouthpiece on FOX one more time speaking from and “expert” point of view, I’m going to throw up!
But Nathan, what informs that patriotism? There must be something there.
Of all the damage Juan has caused, possibly the most overlooked and long term is his leadership in the “gang of 14” in 2005 which prevented any of Bush’s judical nominees from having the up-or-down vote on the floor of the Senate that they were entitled to.
This has almost guaranteed that most of the federal judge positions will be filled by RAT appointments. This may make it difficult to get a conservative majority in the SCOTUS for the foreseeable future.
Thanks, Juan!
At the risk of sounding like an absolute idiot, (something I’ve grown accustomed to), I would have to say that McCain strikes me as just plain weird.
One needs to also remember that his father AND his grandfather turned their backs on him when he was a POW....and his mother made that crack “just hold your nose and vote for him”....his family knows the true score and the true man....if you can call him a man. Another fine example of how history is perverted in order to portray someone in a better light than they actually deserve.
But whatever absorbs his interest, his interest is propelled by the ego and is not checked by a political philosophy or a religious commitment but it is merely channeled and focused on his notion of patriotism.
Appreciate the rant. Ditto from me. Hope you are bracing for the next event—McCain running as VP with Obama. True bipartisanship-the real hope for America!!!
AMEN...
McFAIL
Seriously, on most salient issues there has been precious little to admire about McCain for a long, long time.
Here's hoping a few more Tea Party types joing McCain in two years. In the meantime, the House is where the action is.
That's the essence of McCain, and why he makes conservatives so angry. He understands what is wrong with the country but his need to be loved in the media and among Democrat elites overwhelms his common sense.
If I understand you correctly his ego “was utterly stripped away” and yet “in the ultimate sense remains intact although diverted and channeled.” It is focused on “his notion of patriotism.” But what is the basis of that patriotism? Whim? Any speculations?
McCain may be guided by Patriotic Relativism, but he will be judged by moral absolutes. People of conservative ilk instinctively know when these absolutes have not been adhered to.
Excellent rant.
I remember the summer-fall of 2008, when listening to Rush, he’d sometimes say softly “We are SO screwed.” when he was discussing McCain. We were screwed. So screwed.
What an insult to conservatives to have the very man who poked us in the eye for years and years (McCain-Feingold, etc etc) be the repub nominee for Prez. It was unbearable.
The GOP-RNC may as well have given us someone with an actual “D” behind their name because that’s what McCain is anyway.
My husband and I were totally in the pits about it, until the morning we heard Sarah Palin for the first time, at the speech she gave when McCain introduced her as the VP running mate. I was instantly inspired by her, and I knew she was the real deal, a feeling that has only deepened with every passing day since then.
Near the end of the campaign, I was devastated to hear McCain say of his supposed opponent “America has nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.”
WTF? I mean W T F? McCain was still running (supposedly) and he practically conceded with that one statement.
He never even wanted to win. He never once even uttered Barry Soetoro’s full alias Barack HUSSEIN Obama. That was too rude for McCain’s fine sensibilities I guess.
No one is a better example of the term RINO than McCain.
If the RNC-GOP offers up another rotten egg like that again in 2012, they and we as Americans are toast. We’ll be lucky to survive until Jan.20th, 2013. That’s where McCain and his ilk have gotten us. GW Bush’s “let’s all just get along” crap fueled the RINO fire as they burned down conservatism and left us with 2 choices to vote for: a democrat commie, and democrat lite McCain.
If one reads his autobiography, it is clear that his pedigree as the son and grandson of very powerful admirals who were in charge of war theaters, set a standard to which McCain is trying to compete.
As an aside, my observation of a few ranking officers, including naval officers, is that they despise politics and despise politicians. They believe that they stand between self-aggrandizing politicians who would sell out the country for a partisan advantage and a very dangerous and aggressive world. Therefore, partisan commitment to the professional military mind is often a symptom of lack of patriotism. Conversely, being a maverick one's own political party is a token of patriotism.
I think McCain identifies patriotism closely with military service, which comes from his own biography and pedigree. To that discipline he remains submitted but that does not extend in the civil sphere or to the discipline of political party.
I believe he became fiercely devoted to national service. If one looks at the Lincoln Savings fiasco in which McCain was the sole senators to survive because he was the least tainted, one could draw the conclusion that McCain saw that afair as a threat to his commitment to service and has reacted fiercely to any possibility of similar taint. That means he must be fiercely independent to the point of being a maverick.
These are my armchair musings and I do not pretend to any training in psychology so take it or leave it as as you find it agreeable.
I thank you for your thoughts and insights.
Do you have any observations to add (or subtract)?
Exactly Bush and McCain are the same people the so called rift that is there is all bs.
Can you name one policy difference between the two?
No they are both for advancing the statist agenda.
I know. I am so disappointed in GWB. At the start of his presidency I was ready to embrace him as a great president in the mold of Reagan, but he bitterly disappointed. He did not close the borders after 9-11, did not agressively drill for domestic oil as a national security measure, and ushered in the mess we have now. What a nightmare. Only a true conservative president and a House and Senate dominated by them will save us. We have to hang on for 2 more years. It’s unbelievably hard to take. It seems like it’s been 4 years since Hussein took office.
I’m not up on military culture and I don’t know what to think of McCain’s praise for Obama. I think that the office of presidency demands a non partisan, realistic president and that McCain is hopeful that the office has turned Obama from his leftist ways. Perhaps that hope is based on Obama’s commitment to Afghanistan. McCain says he thinks Obama has learned something. I’m not that optimistic that Obama has learned an anything of importance. I think Obama is doing what he is doing out of political expediency, he has to survive the next election. He is still committed to the left and hasn’t risen above politics in any genuine way. The church going, etc., is play acting for the most part. I think how Afghanistan and the economy turns out will determine Obama’s fate in the next election.
