A good novel on this topic is “The Haj” by Leon Uris.
It has a thread on the Muslim Brotherhood, the Grand Mufti, and the Nazis, from the 1920s through the 1960s.
In the late 1940s the brotherhood had over 2 million members, due to collaboration and support from the Nazis.

We screwed the people of the Balkans in more ways than one in the past 70 years, first we left them to the whims of the communists by supporting Tito during WWII and then by backing Islamic terrorists in Bosnia back in the 90's.

I know that's a rhetorical question but my immediate thought is it can't happen as long as we have two Cloward-Piven oriented Alinskyites in office at the head of the State Department and running the Republic.
Our forefathers knew exactly what they were talking about when drafting the 2nd amendment.
Consider: If 90% of Muslims are peace-loving, tolerant moderates, and only 10% are Islamist jihadists, then that's an electoral landslide in favor of moderation. But 10% of 1.6 billion is 160 million, and 160 million crazies make for one hell of a national security problem! Worst-case (nuclear), they could end up getting most of the 1.6 billion killed.
