It's enough to make you miss Ed Schultz's elegant, elevated tone. OK, I jest, but Cenk Uygur, usurper of Schultz's 6 PM ET slot, hit a vulgar new low on MSNBC this evening. The self-styled 'Young Turk' used a variation of the f-word in fulminating about Paul Ryan's response to the SOTU.
Watch the video after the jump and note that Ugyur's crassness came during prepared remarks, not in an off-the-cuff comment. This was profanity with malice aforethought. Some poor under-assistant producer had to upload it into Cenk's teleprompter.
For good measure, a Dem congresswoman thereupon called Ryan's remarks "vicious." Welcome to the new age of civility!

I have a question about the new motto of MSNBC which they display all the time, i.e., Bend Forward.
My proctologist uses this phrase every time he does the digital exam on me. Is MSNBC inferring they want to shove something up you?
I knew a Turk once, he was a pretty cool guy, but this was in the eighties.
What the heck is a “Cenk”.
Sounds like some sort of tropical parasite.
Oh please.
See #40...it’s just something she needs to fix - so as not to give her critics more ground.
Big deal. I’ve said a lot worse against Obama. I’m not civil. I don’t care.
OK we may have different ideas of decorum. My slight tweak was, whether you were wrapping a criticism of Ms. Palin inside a “concern”. Because that happens a LOT.
How about could I ask you this?
When she said that, was she on the job at FNC? In a television studio? In an official capacity, acting as a representative of her employer?
Or in Alaska face to face with grizzly bears and being a real person?
Because even my sister says “flipping”, and you best not be insulting my sister... :)
Hey, I guess he's been watching too much "Battlestar Galactica". I think they started it. ;o)
I presume your sister isn’t a potential presidential candidate & in the public eye.
It’s something Gov. Palin needs to change - nothing a voice & diction coach couldn’t help with. It could lead to “The Queen’s Speech” delivered at a critical time in our near future.
Cenk Ugyur, Turkish (Ottoman) born, Muslim. Why is anyone surprised? Read up about the Ottoman Empire and that’s your answer on Cenk and the “Young Turks”.
Thanks for your thoughtful reply.
I’m afraid whatever reference you’re making (presumably to the Hollywood ‘buzzed’ something or other about the stuttering king) is lost to me, because I’m not much interested in paying money to socialist nitwits - to watch what passes for movies anymore. They seem to get stupider all the time.
(though I do make the infrequent exception, if Angelina Jolie is in any way involved, yes my weakness...)
I mean how many different ways, can a small group of mean spirited marxists spin the same pro-homo propaganda over and over, and get paid $10 a ticket for the privilege?
No thanks. I’m not interesting in funding the enemy.
So you’re willing to buy into the Hollyweird meme. Lots do, so that’s cool. But ready to bash perhaps the single most inspiring conservative to appear on the American scene since Ronald Reagan, for being a real person?
Feh. Hopefully she doesn’t even think about changing.
Imho.
Great posting handle thought. :)
Nice discussing this with you.
Actually, The King’s Speech is a docu-drama about a historical event, and very well done. However, I share your general disdain for Hollywood.
As for Sarah, I wouldn’t say anything if I didn’t care about her future. The nation needs an American Margaret Thatcher.
Good morning, just logged in myself.
You’re so right!
Wonder if Thatcher, had half as many weak-kneed supporters as seem to be on our side about Palin?
(please don’t misunderestimate ... not referring to you)
The thing is, I think that the more the left goes insane publicly like they’re doing about Palin, a year and a half out from the next election.
The stronger she becomes, and the more people are repulsed by the ugliness that “liberalism” is becoming.
