I don’t believe this for a moment. Alec Baldwin will not leave 30 Rock for this. Just like the lie about him leaving for France when President Bush won the presidency. I guess I don’t like when people lie on either side.

Alex Baldwin is an A list TV/movie star.
Why would he give all that up for this?

This could get ugly. Where will Lefties go to get their hate-fix if Baldwin doesn’t take Olbermann’s gig?
Herds of vacant-eyed radicals will be wandering the streets, specks of froth spotting their lips, muttering Olbermann’s greatest hits to themselves.

“Alec, who plays a right-leaning media exec on the hilarious ‘30 Rock,’ has expressed political aspirations before. But his recent discussion with CNN host Eliot Spitzer advanced that position.”
“Yes, it's something that I'm very, very interested in,” Alec, 52, answered when the governor-turned-host asked if politics was a “game” he wanted to enter. “To quit (acting) now when it really feels good and doing it feels good would be an enormously difficult thing to do. However, I do believe that people want to believe that someone who deeply cares about the middle class ... would like to seek public office.”
“A friend of Alec's tells me that if he opts out of politics (and acting, of course), a career as a cable news opinion host would suit him perfectly.”

I can see it. Baldwin is an idiot, which puts him head and shoulders above Olberman in terms of intelligence. And unlike Olberman, Baldwin does show (rare) instances of sanity...

Hmmm...
Olby fancied (read: sincerely believed in the delusion) that he was the real-life incarnation of Howard Beale. One wonders how long Baldwin would be on the air before he started thinking he was Jack Ryan. Or maybe his character from Glenngarry, Glenn Ross.
Y’know...I might just tune in for an on-air “coffee is for closers!” meltdown...
