One-handsome Eddie Van Halen was treated for meth addiction back in 2007
Methamphetamine is commonly known as speed or meth. It is a white and odourless crystalline powder that easily dissolves in water. The drug was developed early in this century from its parent drug, amphetamine, and was used originally in nasal decongestants, bronchial inhalers and other related products.
Like amphetamine, it causes increased activity, decreased appetite, and a general sense of well-being. Meth is a highly addictive substance, and is widely abused among our nation's many lost youth.
Meth addiction in just a decade has become a horrendous plague upon our nation... ripping millions of lives apart everyday...
(for some reason all the pics won't load on FR, so linked -here-)
Hard to imagine a more potent destroyer of lives than meth addiction... or so you'd think.
Alas, now we are told that BATH SALTS are the "new" meth... more great news. Talk about scrapin'... good grief. Tough times, I guess- and yet another indicator of a society in a moral death-spiral:
Some say the effects of the powders are as powerful as abusing methamphetamine. Increasingly, law enforcement agents and poison control centers say the bath salts with complex chemical names are an emerging menace in several U.S. states where authorities talk of banning their sale.
From the Deep South to California, emergency calls are being reported over exposure to the stimulants the powders often contain: mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone, also known as MDPV. Sold under such names as Ivory Wave, Bliss, White Lightning and Hurricane Charlie, the chemicals can cause hallucinations, paranoia, rapid heart rates and suicidal thoughts, authorities say.
The chemicals are in bath salts and even plant foods that are sold legally at convenience stores and on the Internet. However, they aren't necessarily being used for the purposes on the label. Mississippi lawmakers this week began considering a proposal to ban the sale of the powders, and a similar step is being sought in Kentucky. In Louisiana, the bath salts were outlawed by an emergency order after the state's poison center received more than 125 calls in the last three months of 2010 involving exposure to the chemicals...

Oh geez. We have to show our driver’s license to be allowed to buy a very small and limited amount of Sudafed every month. Am I now going to have to do the same to buy bath salts???? For crying out loud! What are these morons going to come up with next to blow their brains out?

Seriously... watch the Obama Administration use the FDA and whatever to go after bath salts, then after-shave... whatever
Reminds me of an old joke re. the “Kitty Dukakis Special”:
Two shots of rubbing alcohol, dash of Witch Hazel... garnish with cotton ball LOLOL

This isn’t the first bath salts article I’ve read lately, and it is pretty evident that this really is a new drug trend that is emerging. Considering the side effects it makes me wonder if it isn’t directly responsible for the surge in violent incidents we’ve seen in the past year or longer.
Meth is nasty stuff in it’s pure form, but there are so many amateur chemists out there making it there is no telling exactly what is in the stuff. Now we have these bath salts popping up and I wonder if it hasn’t been a trend for some time and the authorities are just catching on.
There has been tremendous pressure on the importation of meth precurser chemicals over the last 10 years or so, and several States have limited the sale of pseuoenephrine to help cut the ready supply down even further. While those efforts have produced real results, the tweakers just moved on to the next best thing.

I can't even get enough to treat my family, but the bad guys are still going at it hot and heavy.
I have a new philosophy for life. Leave the good guys alone and throw the book at the bad guys. I am tired of being made to feel like, or prove I am not, a criminal. Lock the bad guys up..... forever if necessary, and not in some cushy comfortable jail, but someplace where they work their asses off... and leave me the hell alone!
