Many Conservatives and Liberals (and Americans in general) are pleased as punch that Tunisia has overthrown their "president" of over two decades: Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali. However, there is nothing to really be pleased about from a realistic foreign policy point of view and everything to be concerned about; we must not jump the gun on this "revolution."

Tunisia has long been a ally of the United States in the ongoing War on Terror and the Jihadists. Ben Ali didn't share the Islamist worldview of our enemies in either the religious, or the political sense. Women are unchained and Islamists are punished in the Tunisia that Ben Ali ruled over - a country more in line with American values and opinions than most of our Arab allies!

The chief (and organized) opposition of Ben Ali's power has been the Islamists, who are in a much better position to gain control of the country in the upcoming national elections than anyone else. Secular Tunisia* could be a thing of the past if our enemies take control of this important Arab land. A troubling thought that is not limited to me.

Jimmuh the idiot Carter (best Soviet president America ever had) forced the late Shah of Iran - a stalwart USA ally - from power, using Ayatollah Khomeini, and we still suffer the global mess he created.

Now Marxist-Islamist Oba-Hussein-Khomeini has forced the overthrow of another Head of State and American ally to pave the way for an Islamist take over and throw women into their Islamic slavery status.

BTW Iran has banned women and FAMILIES from viewing male team soccer games in cinemas where these are broadcast to widen the audience. The ever more repressive clerics have declared women watching male sports as contrary to Islam.

This mindset in Tunisia - much to Moslem Obama’s delight - is about to happen.

There is the same start in Egypt as in Tunisia. If Egypt goes to the Islamists, you can kiss all our Middle Eastern allies good bye.

You may have heard that the Arab Governmets, especially the Saudis, call 0b0z0 “El Abd,” which literally means “ The Slave!” This has nothing to do with American history. That’s what they also call their black Arab brethern such as the Sudanese.

Not that I have much regard for Carter, but wasn’t it cancer that forced the Shah of Iran from power?

Regarding Tunisia. Once again we have the problem of choosing between democracy and freedom which might lead to outcomes we don’t like, and repressive governments whose policies in some areas we approve, but with other policies that would curl the toes of our founding fathers. One of the difficulties of democracy is that in their adolescence these countries may rebel in directions we don’t like. However, as we are seeing in Iran, the next generation is very much against the previous one’s excesses.

There is nothing laudable about enabling a “one man, one vote, one time” descent into totalitarian theocracy via so-called “democracy”.

Cancer influenced his not taking violent action to retain his throne but it was Carter who BANNED teargas and RUBBER bullets or water spraying tankers from being sold to Iran for crowd control by the authorities.

Today’s populace of Iran, including the youth, who were mostly not even born - based on what their parents now relate - when the revolution happened and had NO experience of life under the late Shah, has deep regrets for what their parents did AND BLAMES THEM for what they did and when Prince Alireza recently committed suicide the outpouring of grief and condolences to Empress Farah from INSIDE Iran was torrential.
