Don’t want to hurt your feelings, but Nazism is not an economic system. You may be confusing Nazism with fascism.

One of the fastest ways to get cursed at on Twitter is to compare Nazism to socialism or communism.

Yikes, imagine, being cursed on.. Twitter. I wonder what would happen if people actually took the message IN REAL LIFE, on the streets, knocking on doors? Oh yeah, why leave the comfort of home? Viva activism on social media!

No wonder that only 42% of registered Republicans actually voted in November, despite knowing what was at stake! Let's tweet and post on Facebook for freedom! Cowabunga!

True, Nazism itself isn’t an economic system, however, it is a political system that has direct control over economic issues so they are tied together. Separating it is simply a game of semantics. Nazism uses Socialist economic models that work on a top down method versus Communism which is bottom up.

“We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions.” —Adolf Hitler

At least some Republicans and people on FR are actually starting to use social media like twitter instead of ancient media.

The left is light years ahead of us.

They are ahead of us on their "boots on the ground", in your face, knocking on doors, community activism, the real movement that will bring out the voters!

These folks who tweet their belief in socialism ALL suffer from the same delusions:

1) Socialism works-—it does not and they know it

2) Socialism is for the PEOPLE but they will SOMEHOW be excused from having the state control THEIR lives.

3) Socialism is human progress.... It’s not, at BEST it’s stagnation and at worst it’s depopulation.

4) People will see how wonderful collectivism is with all it’s promises of food, shelter and prosperity that they will FREELY abandon capitalism. This has NEVER happened in ANY nation.EVER.

5) Socialism will work with the RIGHT people in CHARGE...specifically THEM.

6) One who has Disagreements with socialism equals non-enlightened,selfish, uneducated and greedy.

Fascism is not an economic system, either. The economic element of fascism is predominantly corporatism. FDR followed it, but did not follow all elements of fascism, for example. George W Bush is a corporatist, too.

Barack Obama has an economic view that makes you go HMMM...as in Hitler, Mussolini, Marx, and Mao. It's an interesting combination, how he has blended them. As seen in the bailouts, he shares corporatist views with George W Bush*, though.

"In actual fact, it is the State, i.e. the taxpayer, who has become responsible to private enterprise. In Fascist Italy the State pays for the blunders of private enterprise. As long as business was good, profit remained to private initiative. When the depression came, the Government added the loss to the tax-payer's burden. Profit is private and individual. Loss is public and social."
--Under the Axe of Fascism, by Gaetano Salvemini, p. 416 (1936).
Mussolini bailed out industries that were "too big to fail," such as banks and auto makers. Small business was left to die.

*From Deroy Murdock (NRO):

Bush’s eight-year-long spending spree, his signature on at least 69,341 earmarks, his barely touched veto pen, his $783 billion Medicare drug entitlement, and his massive financial bailout (so far: $3.35 trillion in actual outlays and $13.35 trillion in total guarantees and commitments) apparently are not enough. Bush believes that what taxpayers really need is yet another $40 billion for Detroit to spend with little assurance that automakers will make the major reforms needed to restore their competitiveness.
It's interesting to note that Mr. Murdock's column is titled: "Comrade Bush’s Car Bailout: How does a GOP president push for full-scale, union-approved, taxpayer-funded central planning?"

Yes, fascism and national socialism are close buddies.

Baloney.

Nazi == National Socialist. Emphasis on Socialist.

What do you think "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" means?

"Fascism" was Benito Mussolini's variant on the same socialist ideology.

Nazism, socialism, and communism are the same thing.

Of course they aren't.

The political systems of the UK (constitutional monarchy) and US (republic) are very different in form, even though quite similar in effects. That doesn't mean they are "the same thing."

Socialism is a very broad term, and saying "all socialists are the same" is idiotic. Unless you think Sweden for the last 60 years is "the same thing" as Nazi Germany or the USSR under Stalin.

Socialism is (in theory) a political/economic ideology focused on producing human equality in all aspects, especially economic. It can be mild to the point where it becomes more a slogan than anything else. Or it can be extreme, as with communism. Which can itself vary in virulence, or at least in death toll.

There are two main basic varieties of extreme socialism: fascism/Nazism and communism.

Communism is intended to unite all proletarians (whatever that means in today's terms) of all nations against the middle and upper classes of all nations and bring about utopia. It is quite unconcerned about how many people it has to kill the accomplish this. Its uniting principle is horizontal.

Fascism/Nazism is a heretical version of socialism (because it rejects the idea of equality) that unites people vertically. All members and classes of the nation/race unite to dominate/assimilate (or possibly exterminate) all other nations/races. It is at least equally unconcerned with how many people it has to kill.

All extremist forms of socialism tend to be similar in their practice, but their goals are very different. Although probably that makes little difference to their victims.

I disagree. Socialism/nazism/progreesivism, etc. all involve subjugating the individual to the state. You can’t get a little pregnant. You either are or are not.

The economic element of fascism is predominantly corporatism.

True, but please remember that the "corporations" here are not modern business corporations, or at least not mostly.

They were bodies (literal meaning of the term) of people that represented their members. These could be business corporations, farmers' coops, labor unions, professional associations, etc.

The theory is that people would be represented by occupation rather than geographical location. It is not an inherently evil theory.

Italian Fascism made an attempt to put corporatism (in this sense) into action, but in reality never got it going. The Germans never even really made such an attempt. They just became an authoritariam state where government was all delegated from the Fuehrer.

But please give up the leftist notion that fascist corporatism means "rule by business corporations," which is used to demonize any business influence on government.

BTW, there are many reasons to be opposed to crony capitalism and excessive business influence in government, but it being "the same thing" as fascism isn't one of them.

We’re getting into semantics here.

What you are discussing is the relationship of individuals to the state. Not all totalitarian or authoritarian systems are socialist. Some (at least historically) have been openly oligarchic or aristocratic (Sparta, mandarin China), etc.

All excessively powerful governments are evil. This doesn’t mean they are all socialist.

Socialism is the epitome of evil government. There are no shades of gray when it comes to this. Any government that has a drop of it is irredeemably evil.
