Why is Sarah Palin Still on the Nation's Stage? (Here's a new one)

Why is Sarah Palin still considered relevant in the national discourse?

It is said that at times certain celebrities are said to be famous for being famous. Is Palin relevant simply because she is relevant?

On Monday night, Palin appeared on the Sean Hannity show on Fox. She discussed the reaction of her critics, the media and the county at large to her statements following the shooting of Ariz. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, which included the unfortunate choice of the term "blood libel".

As Palin spoke, 2.36 million people watched, and the show comfortably outdrew the ratings for the debut of Pier Morgans Tonight on CNN, which was shown at the same time. During the broadcast, Palin and Hannity were, for a period of time, the number one tweeted term in the world.

The question, again, however, is "why?" What makes Sarah Palin relevant?

Regardless of her political persuasion, Palin has demonstrated very little executive success. From 1996 through 2002, Palin was the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, with a population of approximately 10,000 people.

Palin was elected governor of Alaska in 2005 and governing the state in 2006. In 2008 John McCain, Republican candidate for president, chose her (some would say inexplicably) as his running mate.....

"... which included the unfortunate choice of the term "blood libel".

The term "blood libel" has been used before, by liberal commentators smearing conservative poiticans.

Here's one example (of many -- it would be useful to see a collection of these instances, to throw back in the face of liberal beserkers):

Florida Democrat Peter Deutsch, just after the 2000 election, on CNN's Crossfire:

Let me just talk a little bit about the whole, I guess, spin from the Republicans about — which has been to me the absolute most — the worst statements I have ever heard probably in my life about anything. I mean, almost a blood libel by the Republicans towards Al Gore, saying that he was trying to stop men and women in uniform that are serving this country from voting. That is the most absurd thing and absolutely has no basis in fact at all.

maybe Palin will look to Bush’s climb as to the White House as her inspiration and template. .......................................... Putz, not Bush, Reagan!! They are even afraid to mention his name. Same ole crap rehashed. Sounds like they are running out of material. When will they learn, its what she stands for, and achieved on her own, without the usual political machinery, that make the people love her. The Republicans (RINOs) can’t win without her and they know it by now.

They don’t want to ask us who love her. Our answers would not fit in with their hate pattern.

I think early on when they attacked her, they expected her to shut up and fold....when she didn’t but came back at them, it scared them sh**less..they made her by trying to destroy her...ironic.
