Tom Delay's Attorney Blames Tea Party for Jail Sentence (Leftist Spin Title)
Yahoo ^ | 01/13/2011 | William Tapscott, Yahoo! Contributor Network

On January 10, 2011, former Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, Tom Delay, was sentenced to three years in jail for his participation in a money laundering conspiracy. Now, his attorney blames the Tea Party, in part, for his conviction.

(snip)

DeLay's attorney, Dick DeGuerin, explained the Tea Party connection by saying, "We went to trial on the very day people across the country, voters, rebelled against politics." While DeLay presumably does not differ much ideologically from the Tea Party, their inconveniently timed uprising might have irritated liberal jury members, who took their wrath out on Delay.

I wonder how it would have turned out if they had gone to trial at the highlight of Blago’s legal notoriety?

I read this as the lawyer criticing the liberal jury, not the Tea Party movement; that the jury consisted of liberal members. Beware of lib media.

Current events influence jury results all the time. Prosecution chose the venue because they wanted the notoriously foaming at the mouth liberal residents of Travis County judging the case. DeLay’s attorney is probably right.

His attorney is making excuses like a Liberal. It didn’t help that the jury decision was backed up to Thanksgiving Holiday either. Wondering how much that had to do with it.

GEEZ! Wondering if I can blame the Tea Party for the Drivers Side door handle breaking on my wifes car today.

If so, this is another successful result. DeLay is bad news. I hope he is still in prison through the 2012 election cycle.

Too bad Abramoff won't be able to keep him company.

DeLay is no hero to conservatives. He was weak on Border Security/Illegal Alien Amnesty....and he was a hardcore Commie Free Trader....his pushing of CAFTA while as majority whip was disgusting....and his dealing on that vote would make Nancy Pelosi envious.

No surprise that The Sickle would be blaming Tea Party because he got convicted. Only a fool or a commie thinks DeLay was some conservative hero

Your spot on Mark (as usual). Liberals are totally irrational, which explains it fully.

"notoriously foaming at the mouth liberal residents of Travis County"

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

This jury was right.

The Republican Party needs DeLay like they need Mark Foley, Jack Abramoff, Ralph Reed, Grover Norquist, David Frum, etc.

Tom Delay's Attorney Blames Tea Party for Jail Sentence

I suppose his client's guilt had nothing to do with it.

"Tea Party’s fault"

No. Tea Party's accomplishment! Another political scumbag bites the dust, and if the Tea Party gets credit, all the better!

Rather than blame his poor defense, DeLay’s lawyer blames the Tea Party Revolt. Oh, I got it. We should have delayed the revolt for DeLay’s trial and sentencing and then lived with the Marxist’s controlling the House, Senate and Presidency for two more years. I guess DeLay is more important than the country.

DeLay picked a lawyer who is either a colossal RINO or a demrat. My respect for DeLay has diminished to zero if he approved his lawyer blaming the Tea Parties. I hope DeLay uses his jail time to reflect on his life and make changes where necessary. If I were him the first thing I’d do is fire the lawyer and disown the Tea Party disparagement.
