Could Sarah Palin be hurt by her association with Glenn Beck?
1/1/11 | Self

Forgive the vanity post. I considered a few articles and may post a link, but I didn't find anything that really got to the nub of it. Glenn lately has been peddling nonsense about American Indians being linked to ancient Hebrews. He's given credibility to the Bat Creek Stone which deserves none. He's speculating on the numerological similarities of Mounds in Ohio with Egyptian pyramids. He's gone completely off the rails on the subject and it's a not so subtle effort to proselytize his Mormonism.

What really stinks, is he's such a good cheerleader for responsible government, and his broadcasts are mostly informative and entertaining. But I'm having a harder and harder time ignoring his absolute wackiness and ignorance on the subjects of religion and archaeology.

He has damaged his credibility overall, and Sarah Palin would be wise to distance herself. He also would be wise to admire her from a distance and stop thinking of himself as some sort of adviser or confidant. This is a bucket of worms Sarah does not need.

Please, try to spare me the flames and talking points. This is just my opinion. I don't hate Mormons and I'm really not in the mood for the usual Palin detractors. I'm talking about political reality. Glenn needs to get his head screwed on straight if he wants to continue being relevant.

She’ll be hurt only if conservatives are stupid enough to believe the Left’s talking points. Conservatives are very good at shooting themselves in the foot that way.

Supposedly McCain hasn’t hurt her, he is far wackier than Glenn Beck. More dangerous too, because he has power.

Isn’t it telling when Mormonism is held against RINOs like Romney and patriots like Beck, but socialists like Dingy Harry get a free pass?

Not only that, little Glenny will soon get on the Romney bandwagon. Then all will see what a hypocrite he truly is.

If he campaigns with her in person, yes, it will hurt her with the bible thumpers. If he just promotes her on his television/radio shows, no it won’t...magritte

I think her efforts over the past year or so have turned her into more of a celebrity than a leader.

Glen Beck is not her worst enemy.

Sarah is Sarah and Beck is Beck, she is her own person.

Yes, she can.

The entire voting nation is not made up of freepers. We have many people whose decisions are based on associations - often designed by the liberal media.

If she has any shows with Glenn, her focus should be on the Constitution, or debt and nothing else.

If you folow the MSM, she is being hurt a great deal these days because she needs to breathe air, the same ans the rest of us. When she stops breathing, according to conventional wisdom, she will be acceptable to the perpetual heartburn crowd.

Key to your post is “off the rails.” If your observation is shared by others, I presume it will likely be shared by Palin as well.

If you are associated with someone who later goes off the rails, but you recognize that he has gone off the rails and proceed accordingly, you usually get credit for your wise observation skills and good judgment.

I never could take Beck. He makes me feel like I am sitting in a church pew listening to a boring sermon.

Excellent Observation! That was also evident in 1968 when George Romney was running for the Republican nomination.
