Need IE8 Help ...
When I go to certain web sites and want to use something like the "Store Locator" box, I place the cursor in the box and type the Zip Code.
Only, the first number does not display. Then, I have to re-position the cursor and type in the first number. Then, it displays. Same thing if I type in the first number [no display], backspace, then type it in, everything is fine.
There is no problem in the IE8 Address Bar or the Search Bars and it does not occur using the word processor or spreadsheet programs. So, I do not believe it is a keyboard problem.
I could certainly use some help.
There is only one thing I can think of ... Since it does not happen at all web sites, could it be a problem with the HTML coding of the web pages that do display the problem ? Meaning, it is their problem and not mine ?
What appears to be happening is that although there is a blinking cursor in the appropriate field, Windows’ focus is elsewhere. Try clicking in the field a second time before you type.
It’s a security feature and artificial intelligence. The program detects that you’re not a great typist and helps you out by making sure that this is actually the character you wanted. There was much discussion about it at Microsoft, insiders report.
After much thought - I think I’m gonna switch to another browser. Will keep IE8 as a backup ...
SOLVED !!!
Before I posted here at FR, I had come across an old Microsoft Forum where the MS Engineer recommended temporarily disabling IE Add-Ons to see if the problem cleared. I tried it, but it didn’t work.
Yesterday I left my own post at the MS Forum and just got a response from an MS Engineer suggesting that I try to disable each Add-On one at a time to see if I could nail the sucker ...
Lo and Behold, [and unbelievably], it worked on the first one!
It was Adobe Shockwave Flash Object. I disabled it, shut down IE8, then re-started IE8. No problem at the web site like before.
I then shut down the computer and re-booted. I opened up IE8 again, went to the web site no problem!
I then enabled the Add-On, shut down IE8, then re-started IE8. Went to the web site no problem!
I then shut down the computer and re-booted. I opened up IE8 again, went to the web site no problem!
Thanks for the suggestions in this post !!! Much obliged !!!
And file this away in case it happens to you !!!
OOPS !!! Meant to send this to all you guys AND NOT myself in Post #24 ...
