"Its a tough job trying to come up with the top ten X-Files episodes of all time. Frankly, I think I should have done the top twenty instead, but that would take too much writing. Im sure some of these episodes will draw the ire of manic X-Files fans as they search for their favorites. One word of advice to those fans who rate the conspiracy episodes as the highest achievement of the series. You wont find any of those episodes here. Im not that big a fan of them, and very few of them can stand on their own anyway.

Gillian Anderson won an Emmy for playing Agent Scully, but she should have won it for this episode. Her descent into madness is nothing less than dazzling......"

Oddly enough for a top ten list, I mostly agree with it. I would add the episode though with cigarette man’s biography, including that he writes pulp fiction stories only to have them rejected by comic books. That episode was an act of courage for the show to humanize an mysterious and villanous character like that.
My favorite was the episode with the cockroaches. I’d been trying to tape the series & had just recorded it. The tape was still in the deck, & my house was broken into. The creeps stole the vcr & that tape along with some other stuff. The police finally caught them, but all I got back was an old blue blanket & a spoon. Really p*ssed me off!
I much preferred The Night Stalker
1. The episode starring Victoria Jackson, with the weatherman whose emotions effected the weather.
2. The episode starring Peter Boyle as a life insurance salesman.
3. The episode where Scully went nuts after watching subliminal messages on TV.
4. The episode with the hillbillies who drove an old Cadillac.
My fav was the one about angels. It was very spiritual.

“Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man” is on his list of ones he might swap out if he wrote the list a month later.
Agreed. This was a very good episode. I also liked the Christmas episode with the haunted house. Loved the X-Files.
Number one has to be the one with Peter Boyle.
Jose Chung it up there, and as you said, the musings epi.
And the first one with fetish guy character.
And I hate to say it, an honorable mention to the Kathy Griffin epi.
Can you dig it?

Fallen Angel is one of the most pivotal episodes of the X-Files mythology. It foreshadows three key events. One, the existence of The Lone Gunmen, a group of amateur enthusiasts of Ufology and other such unexplained phenomena. Two, the eventual fate of Deep Throat for assisting Mulder along.
But I can never listen to Johnny Mathis again after they used "Wonderful, Wonderful" with the Hillbillies and the Ick factor that was involved...
Bad Blood Guest starring Luke Wilson. Real/fake/real vampires. Drugged FBI agents. Pizza. Mulder chasing a winnebago around a trailer park in his underwear. The list goes on and on. Super funny, super awesome, super OCD.
I agree with these two eps. I believe Peter Boyle won an Emmy as a guest star for this episode of X-Files.
