The President was converted ~ I think he saw something ~ not just the bright and shining Republican Victory that seems to have dazzled him, but also something else he had not seen before.

That is what this young lady will be doing from now on and into the foreseeable future ~ moving us with words in song.

I was afraid instead of asking for a pony, she’d make a cheesy pitch for whirled peas - and she did.

But a good performance anyway.

We just bought Jackie Evancho's Christmas CD, it is outstanding. (comes with a CD AND a DVD video disc)

I've been playing music and been in bands since I was a bout 16, playing keyboards, guitar, and trumpet. Now, I say that to say this, with all that music experience I don't think I have ever heard anyone with such a soothing tone to their voice, the range, and perfect pitch as this little 9-year-old girl.

She's amazing - when she talks, she's a 9-year-old, but as soon as she starts singing, it's the voice of an adult.

I showed my wife the YouTube video of her singing "Silent Night" with an older lady, and when I looked around my wife had tears streaming down both sides of her face. She was amazed at the beauty of the singing. I personally think that little Jackie sang better than the well-known opera star that was harmonizing with her.

She was brought to sing a Christmas song. Otherwise she's 11 years old, right?

One gift at a time. Odds are good she'll have enough money to grow up to be a Republican.

BTW, I did as good a search as I could to find where her ancient ancestors came from (before Pittsburgh and Jersey) and I tracked them back to what appears to be an inn high in the Carpathian Mountains. It's all alone ~ no real village there ~ may have been one in the past, but it's just a building alone on a hilltop ~ far removed from where the Czar settled his Cossacks in the 1800s.

So if she looks fairly Polish or Swedish or Finnish, that's probably correct. Makes me wonder what their own family "story" is ~

He is a rapper named ‘Common’.

Don’t remember his real name.

And he said ‘Give it up for Jackie Evancho’.

It always amazes me how some people will put others down without knowing a damn thing about them.

Maybe if you did a little research on Jackie you’d understand why she said what she did and what her feelings are.

BTW. She’s only a 10 year old girl, so why not give her a break. Hmmm?

This child’s voice is absolutely wonderful. Truly a gift from God. I wish nothing but the best for her in the coming years. And, for the nation to which she sings.

Jackie Evancho ROCKS! A 30 year-old voice in a ten year-old body. Amazing!

She has a four song CD out... I bought it from Amazon.

Oh, I have a daughter and work with lots of little girls. They all want “world peace”. But for Christmas most of them want ponies or puppies or ipods. I would have been more charmed by an age-appropriate honest answer

She’s a gifted singer. She should have won the AGT. But sometimes too much sugar .... even from sweet little girls - hurts my teeth.

“Miss Congeniality” comes to mind- Sandra Bullock. LOL! “What the world needs, Stan, is harsher sentences for parole violators.....and of course, world peace!”

And while I am expressing my opinion of sweet little girls who want only to save the baby seals for Christmas, someone should tell her not to move around and gesture so much when she sings. Opera and ADHD don’t mix. I never noticed her constant gestures being so distracting when she sang on AGT. Nerves?

Like I said.

You have no idea what Jackie is like and so you’ve made up your own mind about who she is and what she wants.

No ‘bias’ there. Right?

There are lots of “Evancho’s in western PA- they came to work the coal mines, coke ovens, and later the steel mills at turn of century. I grew up there and had an “Evancho” for a teacher and several classmates, too.

I believe their family name was anglicized from a Slovakian or maybe Polish name. Some spell it “Evancko”

And Ya know.

I never thought I would meet any real ‘a$$holes’ on a Conservative web site.

You’ve just proved me wrong.

I just tracked back the way this family spells it since it is translatable as Littlejohn in a well known language in the region.

It doesn't translate that way in the "other" better known languages there.

It could be a transliteration situation, of course. But are they Orthodox or Roman, and if Orthodox are they Russian, or Slovakian, or...... gotta' be a dozen of 'em.

BTW, I've never known anyone who spells the name the way these guys do but I knew some fellows in the Army from Eastern PA with that name so it's not like it's not fairly common ~ regionally!

Like you said.

World peace for all. Save the seals.

BTW- the kid is from near my hometown and I probably grew up knowing her relatives. She is a lovely well-mannered child with a wonderful voice.
