Me in front, my brother Ralph and Bobby in back ... tearing down Prowdies Hill ... into a stand of brush and saplings ... slamming to a sudden stop and laughing our heads off.
'cept Bobby .... he slid on that welded seam and had to get twelve stitches to keep his ass from shitting out of both sides
My 11 yo son hit the back of his head against a tree while sledding yesterday (the sled spun around), it left quite a knot. Gave him extra motivation to stay off his back at wrestling practice last night!
I had a friend when I was six years old who’s little sister, she was 4, cut her lip on a coffee table. She needed 8 stitches.
When I was 17 she was my girl friend for awhile. She was real pretty, and actually the scar was barely noticeable anymore.
How did we ever survive!!!!
Nice article, OV. It’s another battle front in the war against the marxist takeover of our country.
Will Americans EVER stand up for themselves??!!!
In Hanoverton, just below the snow belt, poor Hubby had to plow an inch off the driveway this morning.
Ha ha! Of course, he didn’t really “have” to plow. It was the shake-down plow to test the snow thrower attachment he just reinstalled on the lawn tractor for the season. Good thing it wasn’t 8” because he had a few [cough] adjustments to make before doing any serious plowing.
I’ve been watching the Accuweather radar feature, and that dang snow front is just hanging over the state south of Lake Erie and won’t go away.
Seriously, I hope you’re all right.
Thanks for the ping!
I’m fine! Stayin’ inside. Went to take care of the water company right after the snow was plowed. The snow just keeps comin’, wave after wave!
Thanks, and you are correct.
We must always be vigil and remember to keep our powder dry.
As to your question about my health, I am doing good and having a terrific pain week so far. This evening I will be going downtown to watch a friend get sworn in as the newest member of the Chico City Council.
It will be nice to have a conservative on the council. He will be outnumbered 6 to one, but getting him in there is a start for this enclave of liberalism in Northern Ca.
Go figure, we have Walley Herger as our US Representative that carries a 99% conservative rating for his record, yet Chico is as far left as you can get at times. It has all to do with Chico State university, thus my nickname for the town, “Berkley of the North”.
Any way I will be attending the swearing in and the first day of city business. If my health holds up, I’ll try and write something up with a video to accompany it.
Thanks again for the help.
OV
OV,
I guess I’ll finish rakin’ up the leaves in May!
Bogie
That was cool.
Are you in that video?
And if so, what was your time?
I remember reading a Dagwood cartoon where Dagwood told his friend that he never raked his leaves before Winter, instead he let the wind blow them away.
The friend then asked him why he was raking leaves in the Spring then.
Dagwood then told him that the leaves he was raking were from his neighbor yard. It seems his neighbor had the same philosophy of letting the wind blew them away.
I use a blower myself. I blow them into a pile, then my blower reverses and it sucks them up and mulches them. So I collect them into a bag and spread them around the garden area for next years garden.
Although I am tempted to hire a local kid to do it for me next year.
Here’s hoping it lightens up soon. It’s sunny here now, and it’s re-snowing (snow’s being blown off the trees). Maybe it will snow itself out.
Glad you’re well.
You are most welcome. It was my pleasure.
I hired my buddy’s son Lincoln this year. He did a great job. Last year, I had a pile almost 60 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 4 feet hire. Township picks them up at the edge of the street. Lotsa big trees on my street!
We always called it " coastin' ", like .. "Let's go coastin' "
Looks like they’d be after me next. I’ve never made my kids wear a helmet for sledding, biking or horseback riding. It’s not because I’m trying to make some kind of point, it’t just that I never did as a kid and didn’t think about making them wear one either. And I’ve taken my share of lumps and bumps from all the above.
BWAHAHahahaha. We used to prop up the barbed wire with a stick ‘cause the fence was half-way down the hill, then just sled right under the sucker. Lost my hat more than once.
Heck, it wasn’t any fun if it wasn’t dangerous.
