Here is video of Mitt Romney on with Jay Leno last night where he discussed Sarah Palin with Leno. Romney called Palin a qualified, capable person who is influential in my party.
Leno asked Romney as a former Governor if could have ever envisioned himself quitting during his term as Governor the way Sarah Palin did. Romney responded that, No he could not, because he loved the job of being Governor. But she had her reasons, he said.
Romney closed his remarks about Palin by saying there is not way he is going to say anything negative about Palin because: Did you see what she did to the Halibut on her show the other night? Im not in for that.
Its pretty obvious there is very little doubt that Romney is running in 2012.

I agree that this was Mitt's intention with the comment - self-deprecating, haha, and a subtle slam at this 'extreme' and 'radical' lady. I can see Mitt smile at himself for this practiced response, proud at his 'cleverness'.
But just stop and think about what this says about Mitt. He's very comfortable being "afraid" of a "quote/unquote" strong, radical extremist, opponent.
Putin, Ahmadinejad, Jong Il, Chavez, Obama, Reid, Schumer, Durbin ..... would club Mitty senseless and he'd be impotent to stop it.
Just Say No to the unrepentant abortionist/statist lying political whore!
Mitt has his surrogates to trash Sarah - while he can remain “above” such things. What a f-ing phony!
“Mitt is angling for the VP slot.”
Or, Mitt is hoping Sarah will be his VP candidate.
I truly think all the also rans from 2008 are flawed and that someone else should be the 2012 nominee
Romneys flaw (among many) is Romneycare
Huckabee flaw paroled that pinnacle of the community who killed those cops
Palin - sorry the middle doesnt like her
i am hoping Thune or Daniels runs from what i know of them anyway they seem like good choices
I think he was implying that he didn’t want to get the same treatment.
Your remark “what I know about them” is exactly why these guys may already be out of the race. 2 years is barely enough time to raise public awareness. Palin, however, has been doing a fine job at that, like her or not.
LOL!
Palin didn't do it right...
Supposed to EAT the raw and beating heart before it stops beating....not drop it in the water.
Well, maybe she’d done it before and didn’t care for it. I’ll give her a pass on it.
I'm guessing you haven't been following them closely then.
John Thune not only sold out his country but did so in a cowardly manner when he voted for cloture on the fascist 'food safety' bill, getting it over the 60 vote hurdle, then voting against it when it only needed 50. That way, he gets to keep his ACU rating high while being there for his lobbyist buddies when they needed it. He was there for them again today when he signed a letter begging Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell to continue raping us all with ethanol subsidies.
Then, there's Mitch Daniels who wants a 'truce' on social issues, which we all know is idiotic, because the left isn't going to be joining us in any 'truce'. He's also in favor of a VAT tax. Where do I sign up?
Both are a disaster area and really no better than Romney or Huckabee.
There's Chris Christie, whom I like, but has a number of flaws. But he's pretty adamant about not running. Bobby Jindal is the same way. DeMint doesn't appear to be running. Santorum is a lost cause. Mike Pence is okay, but going from congress to the WH is a big jump and I don't think he has the star power to do that.
So, absent the unlikely event of someone coming out of nowhere in the next 3-5 months, that's the field we've got and in that field Palin is our only viable option. I happen to like Sarah, but if there was someone who had an easier row to hoe with independents, I would certainly support them. I think she would too. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case.
So, you’d take letting the left win all social issues while we foolishly are taking part in some ‘truce’ and a VAT tax over corruption and ethanol subsidies? If those are the choices, we’re all screwed.
Barbour is okay. Some folks don’t like him because he’s sort of the quintessential southern white guy, but I don’t have any problem with him. I look forward to seeing what he has to offer in the primaries.
However, he did have the opportunity to defend her on Leno and did not go too far out of his way to do so. I believe that all he said was she had her “reasons” for quitting. He knew why she quit. If someone wants to open a conversation about it, he could have at least been honest with Leno and put him in his place. But, I guess if he has any real aspirations to run in 2012, he wouldn't want to help her out too much.
I will agree with you that he does seem like a nice enough guy, and he wasn't as vicious with her as some of the RINO’s have been. I will give him credit for that.
You are right about the halibut comment. However, I still don't think that he should have brought it up because that whole “drama” was being used by the left to portray her as a nut who likes to be cruel to animals. He should have just left it alone.
Well, then he better hire Lisa Murkowski as his campaign manager because he's going to need to know how she pulled off what she pulled off in Alaska.
You did mention Thune, who has become the poster boy for slimy politics and ethanol subsidies. He voted for cloture on the fascist ‘food safety’ bill and then like a cowardly little slimeball, voted against the bill once he helped get it over the 60 vote hurdle. You also mentioned Daniels who has stated that he wants a ‘truce’ on social issues and is in favor of a VAT tax.
If these are the choices, we’re screwed.
Too bad she did it to a halibut and not Romney!
