You did mention Thune, who has become the poster boy for slimy politics and ethanol subsidies. He voted for cloture on the fascist ‘food safety’ bill and then like a cowardly little slimeball, voted against the bill once he helped get it over the 60 vote hurdle. You also mentioned Daniels who has stated that he wants a ‘truce’ on social issues and is in favor of a VAT tax.
If these are the choices, we’re screwed.

Okay, I don't claim to be an expert on those two. What I've seen so far, I've liked. I don't know about the stuff you brought up. However, as I said previously, my true favorite is Haley Barbour. The only mark against him out of all the things that I've read on him is that he was a lobbyist for "Big Tobacco". If Obama could get elected with his main qualification as a street agitator, I don't see how being a lobbyist for a legal American company is so bad. Plus, I think he will be able to unite the tea party faction along with "establishment" Republicans. He'll also be able to raise a tremendous amount of money.
