Exotic Aircraft Identification Thread
Hidden | 11/30/2010 | Self

Just for fun, how about we stump each other with exotic or unusual airplane photos. Upload to Tinypic so no one can cheat by looking at the image source.

I'll go first. What is this aircraft?

Brewster Buffalo?

Yes, but specifically a late-production F2A-3 variant.

Very good! This was an early predecessor of the Harrier jump jet.

I'm assuming that this game is just open response, right?

That's a Fieseler Fi 156 Storch.

First time I ever saw a Storch, btw, was at the Summer 1983 Denton Texas Airshow ... where one “won” the slow-speed race (by being the last over the finish line without stalling) against two L-4s.

Sure. I've just pinged AAC on these because he smoked the thread last night. Although you are off to a very fine start this evening.

Thanks, I’ll take that as a compliment (although it’s almost my bedtime too). That’s a Lockheed AH-56 Cheyenne.
