Here is video of renowned political prognosticator Charlie Cook reacting to President Obamas recent arrogant assertion that, I dont think about Sarah Palin. Cook told MSNBCs Andrea Mitchell that Obama has to pray every night for Republicans to nominate Sarah Palin, because she is a no fly zone for Independent voters according to him. Obama was dismissive of Palin after being asked if he thought he could beat her in a potential 2012 matchup for President. Cook cited Palins poor showing in polls among Independent voters as the reason why Obama has to be hoping for a Palin nomination in 2012.
Obama had better be careful what he wishes for.

So you leave the field for Mitt Romney.
Personally I think he would be a disaster if he managed to defeat Palin for the nomination.
Actually that’s not what he said but you can make things up all you want. Perhaps it’s just ignorance on your part. I should expect that from a Palin Cultist.
Palin would be my top choice. But every poll has shown, even Rasmussen, that she trails Obama while other candidates beat her. If an acceptable conservative candidate, with less baggage, say Jim Demint, ran, I would vote for him over Palin. We need a conservative in the Whitehouse....which means we need to nominate a rock solid conservative that can win.
teg_76 it’s frustrating to me that I often find myself on these threads having this exact same debate. If somebody wants to support Palin or DeMint or Barbour or Christie or whoever (other than Romney) that’s fine. But for some reason if I or somebody else says they support another candidate there is a vocal segment of Palin’s supports who claim that I “hate Palin”. They scream “PDS”. If somebody supports Palin I don’t believe it’s because they “HATE” my candidate.
I truly believe that there is a mentally unhealthy cult following with her. It’s not something she asked for or wishes however. What the Palin cultist refuse to see is that their worship of her is NO DIFFERENT than the lefts worship of Obama two years ago. Again I’m differentiating between her supporters and her “cultist”.
Actually you just made all of that up, and you did not refute the facts, but you did manage to make your personal attack, and insult freerepublic, and all Palin supporters here, including Jim Robinson.
Haley Barbour has already joined the call for conservatives to surrender on social issues, taking out our leading conservative will not help your moderate candidate.
Calling you a Palin Cultist is not a personal attack. It’s a statement of fact. JimRob supports good conservatives of which Palin is one. My bone to pick is not with her but with those who, rather than supporting her, worship her. You sir are mentally ill.
I made a simple post about Haley Barbour, and you can only make personal attacks.

And I said that that was not what Barbour said. To which you mysteriously said, “Actually you just made all of that up”
I’m still not sure what it was I “made up”.
Tell you what though...give me the actual quotation where Barbour “called on conservatives to surrender on social issues”. Now the key words he has to use are “surrender on social issues”. Good luck with that.
The post was made up, your guy Barbour has already joined forces with the anti-social conservative camp, with his support for the “truce” on social conservatism called for by by Daniels, and his taking a stand against the tea party movement with his dismissal of Palin and Beck, and the movement.
Barbour has made it clear that he is solidly in the Romney/rino part of the GOP that we are at war with.
Interviews and debates decide who is best to govern? Without his teleprompter, zero cant’s string two sentences together, unless you want to count the uhs, ums, ers.
You mean post the support for the statement that I made?
This one? “Haley Barbour has already joined the call for conservatives to surrender on social issues”
In your opinion. Those who have common sense are able to distinguish between truth and the truth the MSM wants us to believe. How sad that some gobble up the crap they are fed - even some here on FR eat from the same spoon.
I can only speak for myself, but I’d have no problems owning up to it if I’m wrong. I think it’s going to be a very interesting primary race and an interesting general election.
Oh..so it’s a “conspiracy”.
Now I understand.
And, by staying home she elects zero for another 4 years. Yeah, that really helps our country doesn’t it? Try explaining this to her.
It seems to me that everyone presumed to be a potential candidate is fundamentally flawed. That's not "despite" the doom and gloom. I would think that IS the doom and gloom.
For example, tell her to switch channels. Apparently, 3-5 million people didn’t find it insufferable.
Who do we have now??
I honestly don't know. I think that if Palin runs, the anti-Palins will have to pick someone to get behind. This is assuming Palin garners a healthy vote. Will it be Romney?
I can tell you, in a Romney-Palin primary, I probably stay home. I almost couldn't drag myself out to vote for Romney last time (as the official anti-McCain vote at that point.) And afterwards, I felt like that particular vote was not worth the bother.
Anyway, if Sarah is pulling good numbers, I'd think it becomes a two-man race right away. And I'm pretty much an unrepresented bystander at that point. I'll vote against Obama in the general, like I did last time.
I was surprised she bothered to watch. I did see that the second week numbers dropped off by about a million viewers, from 4 mil to 3 mil roughly. I guess mom-in-law was one of those million. So Palin is pulling O'Reilly numbers. Not bad at all for cable.
I didn't tell her much of anything. She asked me to explain the tea party to her, and I was able to do that. I denied that Palin is a "leader" of the tea party movement. But I gave her credit for unabashedly being supportive and respectful of the movement from early on, while others were still playing it safe.
