Democrats are good at one thing above all else: bankrupting states. The more Democrat a state is today, the more likely it is to be teetering on the brink of insolvency. California, Illinois, New York? All deep blue states swimming in a sea of red ink.
With the US House of Representatives reverting to Republican control in January of 2011, Governors Brown (D-Fossil) and Cuomo (D-Prince) will not be able to continue the spending spree with hopes of Washington DC stealing from the frugal (Texas) to give to them.
That is great, but what of the states that have recently turned from Democrat to Republican? Surely there could be no last-minute shenanigans, right? In Iowa, outgoing Governor Chet Culver (D-Union Whore) has put Iowa on the hook for $100 million in new concessions to Iowa's government workers unions.

Of course, the 10% of Americans unemployed should be less thrilled as more capital is taken out of the economy to feed the greedy unions.
Iowa is one of only 6 states in the Union (pun intended) to give government workers and their families free medical care with no co-payment. This additional sweetheart deal of a raise should remind everyone why it was so important to vote against Democrats earlier this month. This is not the first time the AFSCME has cut such a deal. When I was living in Iowa during the 1990s and Terry Branstad was governor AFSCME also negotiated a 2% across the board raise for state employees. The state legislature balked and did not fund the raise. AFSCME took the State of Iowa to court and the court decided that the raise was a valid contract the state was obligated to pay. Branstad was forced to call a special legislative session to fund the raise.
Iowa will be ok. Just put a big ole state tax on those corn subsidies
Where is the outrage?
