DREAM Act scorecard: The GOP Senate fence-sitters By Michelle Malkin • November 18, 2010 09:39 AM

Yesterday, I published a target phone list of GOP Senators for the upcoming vote on the DREAM Act/Illegal Alien Student Bailout.

I’ve polled Republican Senate offices and you should know that many open-borders squishes remain on the fence about this Obama/Reid down payment on blanket illegal alien amnesty. That’s right. The following GOP Senators haven’t made up their mind on whether they should oppose a bill that amounts to a 2.1 million future Democrat voter recruitment drive. Know your fence-sitters:

SEN. JOHN MCCAIN 202-224-2235; 480-897-6289: Staff says he “hasn’t made a public statement” and “hasn’t made up his mind.” He talked a tough border security game to get re-elected, while promising illegal alien activists he would “resolve their issues.” (Refresh your memories here.)

Arizona, you chose to re-elect him. You get what you deserve.

SEN. OLYMPIA SNOWE 202-224-5344; 207-874-0883: Staff says she “hasn’t released a statement.”

SEN. SUSAN COLLINS 202-224-2523; 207-945-0417: Staff says she “hasn’t released a public statement.”

SEN. LISA MURKOWSKI 202-224-6665; 907-271-3735: Staff says she’s “still reviewing the bill.”

SEN. SAM BROWNBACK 202-224-6521; 785-233-2503 Staff says he “hasn’t had a chance to look at it” and remains non-committal.

SEN. KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON 202-224-5922; 214-361-3500: Staff says she “hasn’t released a statement,” but will probably do so later today.

SEN. GEORGE LEMIEUX 202-224-3041; 904-398-8586: Recorded message informs callers that he’s “in a meeting.” He has yet to publicly state his position as open-borders extremists step up pressure.

***

FYI: The following GOP Senators who had been of concern say they are opposed to the stand-along DREAM Act:

SEN. SCOTT BROWN: Staff says he “does not support ANY taxpayer illegal alien amnesty bills,” including the DREAM Act.

SEN. MIKE JOHANNS: Opposed the DREAM Act. Period.

SEN. GEORGE VOINOVICH: Opposed.

SEN. ORRIN HATCH: A former DREAM Act champion, he is now opposed.

***

SEN. JUDD GREGG: Staff says he is a likely no vote.

***

SEN. RICHARD LUGAR, an original co-sponsor of the DREAM Act amnesty, remains a staunch supporter.

***

Your voice and your calls count. Make yourselves heard.

SEN. GEORGE VOINOVICH: Opposed.

And better stay that way.

The Dream Act will be attached to another important bill like the Tax bill.

WA state passed a law, giving in-state tuition to illegals who graduated from a WA state high school. Some time around 2002-2003, a group of Asian students who were here legally on student visas and had graduated from state high schools sued for in-state tuition and won. The court ruled that the state could not give in state tuition to illegals and not to legal immigrants who met the same criteria of graduating from local high schools. Part of the settlement must have been an agreement to not discuss the case because after the law suit was settled, all reference to it disappeared from the internet. I know it happened and I know that the Asian students won the case because I know one of the Asian students.

No one can hurt George. Portman just won George’s seat and GV is out the door come January.

He’ll probably work up a good cry for all those downtrodden students and insist we send them all to Harvard with free lunch money.

I’m very curious to see what my newly elected Sen. Marco Rubio says about this.

“The Dream Act will be attached to another important bill like the Tax bill.”

Could be. Malkin at the link says they’re also thinking of attaching it to the
“Help HAITI Act” which would “allow the Department of Homeland Security to offer permanent residency to orphaned children who came to the United States after the devastating earthquake earlier this year.”...The old kiddie human shield strategy.

My RINO Republican Senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison, got an ear full from me (anyway, her receptionist did). She actually is desperate enough to considering siding with the likes of Olympia (traitor) Snowe and (spineless) Susanne Collins? Maybe sag-mouth Murkyski gave her motivation...

The fact is that most of the illegals already get a free ride to college if they have decent grades, usually just partials for grad school, though. They go right into the affirmative action majors, ethnic studies, public administrtion, something like that. They admit them in WA state on the basis of their essays, not their grades or test scores. They are directed to write their essay on how they over came some kind of racial discrimination or adversity and how they want to go to college to help right the wrongs that were done to their people.

I know because I know someone who went all the way through law school at UW on such a scholarship. In undergrad school, she was even given spending money, that continued during the summer break.

RiNO Kay Bailey Hutchison has nothing left to play for. She got crushed, stomped on, in the Republican primary race for Governor -- the job she really wanted (so she could get her adopted kids out of the hellhole Federal City and back to Texas).

She might vote for the "Venceremos/Reconquista Act" just out of spite and revenge. She's stuck in the Senate, wants to leave, and might not relish turning the Senate seat over to the current players in the GOP.

"Apres moi, la deluge"? Big egos tend to do that -- like Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Adolf Hitler. And the guy who originally said it had a big ego, too -- Louis XIV.

I’m very curious to see what my newly elected Sen. Marco Rubio says about this.

Rubio is impressive in many ways, but we do not yet know if he is much more than Mel Martinez 2.0. That's what a couple of Florida residents called him in discussions a few months back.

I haven't joined the crowd who seem to want to put him on the 2012 presidential ticket.

Mark Kirk said in the debates that he would vote no. He should, by all rights, be seated already but the Dems are delaying it.

Meanwhile-RiNO's-getting-ready-to-backstab-us-again ping.

I asked my relatives up north what is up with Dick Lugar championing this Shamnesty bill. Meanwhile Kay is making squishy noises.

Obummer wants to ram it through the Lame Ducks, and if these RiNO's roll over and don't filibuster the session to death, he'll get it, too -- and much else.

The Rats are pedal-to-the-metal now.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, one wonders where Grassley is on this - he was one of the original 18 co-sponsors of the bill, along with Brownback, DeWine, Dominici, Craig and Lugar (the rest RATS.)

Figures McCain would be on the side of Treason...

The DREAM Act is nothing more than Hispano-Racism on Steroids. To take my tax dollars and reward Illegal Alien lawbreakers is disgusting.

These GOP Senators who vote for the DREAM Act should might as well join the DNC, give up their US citizenship
