Now They Find Their Voice

Over the past year and a half, Hezballah has been restocking their inventory of rockets storing many in the Bekaa Valley. Hezballah has also been in violation of the United Nations resolution that ended the conflict between them and Israel back in 2006 by rebuilding military positions and bunkers and storing rockets and other war supplies south of the Litany River. Further acts in violation of the so-called rules of law have been manifest by Hezballah having placed their weapon caches within hospitals, schools, mosques, and residential homes. Through all of this, Europe, the United States, the United Nations, Russia, and the World in general have all been silent.

On the other hand, Israel had the, if you listen to the talking heads, unmitigated gall to claim the Cave of the Patriarchs, Jacob’s Tomb, and Rachel’s Tomb as Jewish World Heritage Sites. This brought an immediate reaction by UNESCO, the United Nations group responsible for assigning and preserving World Heritage Sites. UNESCO immediately refuted the Israeli claim declaring that the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb were in fact Mosques and thus Muslim Holy Sites with no Jewish background whatsoever.

Hamas, from their enclaves in Gaza, fired thousands upon thousands of rockets and mortars at Sederot and other civilian targets in southern Israel. Often these attacks averaged over a dozen volleys a day for months on end. These explosive laden rounds struck schools, homes, businesses, farms, and hospitals. No place within five to ten miles was safe from these terrorizing attacks which were intended to strike solely civilian areas, not military targets. Despite these terror tactics, the World was silent. Finally, after almost a decade, Israel said enough is enough and sent the IDF in to silence the threat to its citizens. Immediately, the World again found their voice to severely and roundly condemn Israel for resorting to such wanton destruction. The whole World stood and demanded that the senseless slaughter stop. The World demanded to know Israel’s excuse for such barbarity. And when Israel pointed to the endless attacks on her citizens, the World demanded that Israel simply absorb such violence. Israel, they claimed, had to expect such treatment simply because they are Israel.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, against the will of the people who elected him, froze all Israeli building beyond the Green Line so as to meet the precondition forced upon Israel so that the Peace Talks could be started without any preconditions. For over nine months the Israelis did not lay one single brick upon another, did not nail two boards together, froze ongoing constructions at great economic cost, all the while President Abbas and the Palestinian leadership still refused to come to the table and talk. Finally, with but three weeks left out of a ten month promise to freeze construction beyond the Green Line expressly to enable peace talks, the Palestinians agreed to meet, once. The entire time the world sat silent avoiding pressuring the delicate and fragile Palestinian sensitivities. Three weeks after the sole meeting, the freeze had run its course and Israel returned to normal activity and restarted building. Abbas and the Palestinian leaders cried foul and demanded the freeze be continued indefinitely. This awoke the tongues of those whose opinions must be heeded. Now they found their voice, to once again demand Israel to go once more above and beyond their concessionary promises. Again, it was Israel standing in the breach against the Palestinian saintly promise of peace.

The examples and hypocrisy is blatant and easy to see if one only wishes to look. Israel’s enemies can break any promise, ignore any item required of them, blatantly refuse their responsibilities, tell any lie and expect the World to be their echo chamber, and all these and more will be afforded them. Israel is held to a different standard. Not only a different standard that the Palestinians must meet, but a more strident standard than any other country must meet with occasional exception of the United States. In most situations, the Israelis are required to act with responsibility, honor, truthfulness, and a meekness of acquiescence. Israel’s enemies, on the other hand, are given liberty to lie, cheat, and walk away from any responsibility and they are praised and then asked to name what price the World can extract from Israel for actually expecting any degree of fairness. The list of concessions made by Israel would fill volumes while we still wait for the Palestinians to meet even one of the original requirements placed upon them.

Back in now seeming ancient history of the Oslo Accords, the Palestinians were required to meet a few demands in order to permit and establish an atmosphere suitable for peace. The first was to change their Charter to recognize Israel’s right to exist and no longer use incitement of violence. There has never been a change in the Charter. The Palestinian leadership did vote and appoint a committee to amend the charter but that committee has never met, not even once. The Palestinians were required to disarm all terror groups and arrest those responsible for initiating and planning terror attacks. To this day, not only has nobody been disarmed, the Palestinian leadership has formed numerous “security” forces, who often double as members of terror groups, and armed them with the best weaponry available, and much had been made available even by Israel and the United States in the name of fighting terror. The Palestinians were also required to end all incitement in any form including, their media, their religious services and sermons, and their education system. Once again, all efforts have been to increase incitement and to honor those who have been responsible for the most severe and deadly of terror operations. Martyrdom and becoming a Shaheed have been glorified to such an extent that many children of all ages have stated their life’s desire is to die murdering Israeli Jews.

Ever since the original Oslo accords, at virtually every meeting, these same requirements have been placed before the Palestinian leadership. Each time Israel has, more often than not, made new concessions supposedly to move the peace process forward, yet the Palestinians are still stuck at their first step. And why should the Palestinians even think of meeting these first requirements? Nobody has truly made a great fuss about their refusal to budge on any issue while the World always finds its voice when it is time to have Israel meet further demands or make more and new concessions, and especially when there is the slightest of reasons to decry and condemn the Israelis, most often for the sin of defending themselves. As long as the angry World’s voice is directed only at Israel and the World’s acquiescent silence blissfully surrounds the Palestinian lack of compliance, why would there be any change. If there is ever to be peace between Israel and those who call for their destruction, the world will have to find a more reasonable voice with an even temperament.

In the latest example that the vast majority of the verbal admonitions are reserved solely for Israel, we have President Obama speaking during his visit to Indonesia. The current impasse in the so-called peace talks lies with one item and one item alone. In order to restart the talks reputedly not impeded by any preconditions from either side, the Palestinians refuse to rejoin demanding Israel guarantees to halt all building past the Green Line, including in Jerusalem, and affirms that the Green Line will determine the final border. Israel, as repeatedly stated by Prime Minister Netanyahu, is fully ready to resume talks without preconditions. Which side received admonitions from Obama for standing in the way of the peace talks, the peace talks that presumably have no preconditions? Israel, of course. And why did President Obama admonish Israel? He condemned Israeli plans to build additional housing in the Israeli capital city of Jerusalem, thus not meeting the precondition of a total Israeli building freeze.

Well, a infusion of $ 150,000,000 from the US State Department to the Palestinian Anarchy Authority would certainly help Hezbollah.
No doubt that , that money will be funneled from the Palestinian Anarchy Authority to the Hezbollah....
That should be another thing that this new Congress should investigate of this Coconut Administration.
Is this Administration funneling money to Hezbollah ?
