The perfect end to a perfect week? Keith Olbermann laid low by his own bias?
It only seems a victory. The idiotic notion that journalists are independent or impartial is what is killing newspapers and other media today. Nobody believes that anymore - if they ever did. The Olbermann suspension/firing demonstrates a lack of ethics on the part of NBC News. Their outmoded policy that makes journalists out to be ink stained cavaliers fighting for truth and justice is just plain nonsense and everyone except the arrogant popinjays in the media know it.
Jonah Goldberg:
"So Olbermann gave money to some Democratic candidates. Ostensibly the rules against this are intended to prevent journalists from giving the appearance of bias. Whether or not such rules make sense for actual reporters, such rules are silly for someone like Olbermann. Does anybody, and I mean anybody, suddenly trust Olbermann's opinion less because of this news? I'm waiting. Does anyone think he's less biased? More biased? Un-biased? Second, the larger problem with these kinds of rules is that they do little to prevent media bias and a great deal to hide an important form of evidence of it. Banning liberal journalists from giving money doesn't prevent them from being liberal, it just gives them a bit more plausibility when they deny it. Now, I can see the argument that someone who makes a donation would be more interested in protecting their investment, as it were. So I don't think the policy is completely misguided. But at a certain level banning donations is like NPR barring staff from attending the Jon Stewart rally. It doesn't fool anyone, but gives the accused a lawyerly rebuttal to accurate accusations."
If FOx was smart, they’d hire the douche bag and have him and O’Reilly square off. Talk about ratings bonanza...and it would prove that Queef Ogreman is really all about the $$$.
All that time he was calling us names while he was a filthy rule breaker.
Disgusting.
I hear “Good Morning, Minot!” is looking for a co-host/high school sports guy.
ESPN doesn’t want him back. He burned that bridge.
Rumor is he’s going to take over for Robert Gibbs
Neat, Faux News as it is known in the underworld saves two liberals in two weeks, one a good but misguided guy and the other a screaming, flaming, scorched earth democratic socialist who on more than one occasion does a passable on air imitation of a past leader of the democratic socialists, while lying his rear end off.
A quote from film, “I like it”, question is, would Keith go for it, or would principle rule as you have stated the opposite. Hmmm? It’s up to Fox now.
The movie quote from Chevy Chase, in the 80’s, approximately 29 years ago.
Let him rot.
I work in broadcasting. I wouldn’t want to work with him.
Make him the weekend movie critic ! those guys just call or skype it in. lol
Perfect!
We need to promote that “rumor!”
Interesting take. I was disgusted at his bombastic slander all by itself. Is there some way that breaking of this rule makes it worse?
He sucked on NBC’s Sunday Night Football also. Ruined the pre-game show with his “haughty” personality.
I skipped the obvious and focused instead on the point that it is disgusting for a person to go on TV and constantly insult people while breaking the rules he agreed with to be on the TV in the first place.
Is that better for you?
He could become Obamas Media Czar.
Well, he certainly is a deserving rotten SOB! Have you no heart? Have mercy. Everyone deserves employment, a house, health care, redistributed wealth, etc etc.../s
MSNBC is looking for a way to get rid of him for good. He could ‘resign with dignity’ and turn himself into another Arriana Huffington, blogging drivel that nobody reads.
I think it was more an excuse to get rid of him. He had signed an extention to his contract that would take him up to 2012 and I think the new owners will be relieved to have one less contract to buy out.
I would not watch.
It appears that PMSNBC is expecting him back and that it really is only a suspension:

That is if his career in gay porn doesn’t take off in the meantime.....
