Abortion rights groups far surpass pro-life groups in campaign contributions to political candidates, OpenSecrets.org writes today. It's pretty troubling and discouraging for pro-lifers in Illinois that both of their U.S. Senate candidates are on the list of the nation's top 20 biggest abortion dollar recipients in 2010. So, no matter who's elected November 2 -- Mark Kirk or Alexi Giannoulias -- the abortion industry will be happy.
OpenSecrets.org also lists the top 20 candidates getting prolife group backing, of which three from Illinois are included: former U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Hughes (R), former U.S. Congress candidate Maria Rodriguez (R-8) and U.S. Congress candidate Adam Kinzinger (R-10). The amounts of those prolife group donations are a fraction of those spent by pro-abortion groups.
Any idea why prolife groups either aren't able to raise campaign donations or don't see the need?
He's just being "moderate" again, right Kirk cheerleaders?
Pro-abortion groups say Kirk is better for their cause than the Democrat machine thug, so do Sarah & Jim Brady of the Handgun Control, Inc. fame, so do numerous Obama propaganda rags in the Chicago media elite, and numerous life long liberal Democrat activists like Rev. Willie Wilson.
But we just gotta vote for Kirk to "stop Democrats", right?
Hopefully Labno will get enough conservative votes for Kirk to lose or him to pull off an upset.
The problem is, that in spite of my efforts, and those of lots and lots of other people, Kirk won the primary. In a cake walk. He's the Republican candidate, even though his voting record runs counter to what I think the majority of Republicans in this state would wish. This sux big time, since right now, at this particular point in our history, it is imperative that we put the kibosh on the secretive, unaccountable, statist clique that is in power. The only legal way that I can think of is to vote the pricks out, and vote to Keep them out. Alexi Giannoulias is one of those, the closest thing to an obama clone that I can imagine: a short record of criminal ineptitude and failure, the rest, except for some personality type fluff, blank.
In short my credo is- democrats out now, RINOs next. My vote is in no way a validation of Kirk, or his record. It is that we have limited tools right now to abate the democrat hegemony in government. Mark Kirk is definitely a tool, he'll have to do- monkey-wrenching the democrat machine is ugly work. But it must be done, and I'm not too proud to use the only tool at hand that might work. We have six years to prepare candidates who will actually offer a primary challenge. No doubt the democrats are working on this even now. And I believe that Kirk understands that outside of the 10th district, glibness alone will no longer save him. If he does not, then he is next.
