Over at WorldNetDaily, Bob Unruh is reporting that leftist Congressman Charles Rangel, who is under investigation for ethics violations, has introduced a bill to create the Civilian Security Force that Mr. Obama spoke of during his 2008 presidential campaign.
The bill provides for mandatory conscription of males between the ages of eighteen and forty-two to serve at the discretion of the President – either in the “uniformed services” or in “civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security”.

Click here for the link to the bill, H.R. 5741, itself. Of particular conern are these items, which will grant a huge load of discretionary – no, make that dictatorial powers – to the President:
SEC. 105. IMPLEMENTATION BY THE PRESIDENT.
(a) In General- The President shall prescribe such regulations as are necessary to carry out this title.
(b) Matter To Be Covered by Regulations- Such regulations shall include specification of the following:
(1) The types of civilian service that may be performed in order for a person to satisfy the person’s national service obligation under this title.
(2) Standards for satisfactory performance of civilian service and of penalties for failure to perform civilian service satisfactorily.
(3) The manner in which persons shall be selected for induction under this title, including the manner in which those selected will be notified of such selection.
(4) All other administrative matters in connection with the induction of persons under this title and the registration, examination, and classification of such persons.
(5) A means to determine questions or claims with respect to inclusion for, or exemption or deferment from induction under this title, including questions of conscientious objection.
(6) Standards for compensation and benefits for persons performing their national service obligation under this title through civilian service.
(7) Such other matters as the President determines necessary to carry out this title.
If this bill passes, and the Democrats do have both the time and votes to get it done prior to the January swearing-in of the new House members and Senators, the executive branch will accrue even more power than it has seized to this point.
With this administration in place, I’m always leery of major events, whether they are real or manufactured – such as the current pre-election terror investigation that is preoccupying the media – because they create huge smokescreens for the next act of leftist treachery that is flying in under the radar.

IIRC, Rangel has introduced similar stuff before, reinstituting the draft and whatnot.
Someday, one of these will slide by and your boy will be whisked off to camp.

That or something similar includes health care professionals.
This is part of Rangels usual dog and pony show of stupidity. Its a scary, dumb, un-democratic idea that sounds like it stepped out of Orwell’s 1984. But its not going anywhere....
However, this would be a great thing to push in TV and other ads directed against those hip youngsters who loved Obama so much in 2008. Nothing the young like more than the idea of reinstating the draft....

Makes sense. It’s probably the only way to get people to attend Obama rallies in 2012.

Is this an branch of the arm services or involuntary servitude as stated in the Amendment XIII? Do you think the take over of all student loans plays into this?
If you look, you will notice that some Dem (Rangel’s done it a few times before) introduces the same bill each Congress. It is because “minorities are disproportionally represented and have to go die for the ‘white man’s war’”
