Nobody around here owns guns. They were all lost on a fishing trip if I remember correctly.

Welcome to reality. My guns were never kept loaded but now they all are. I do not have children in the home on a regular basis. When I do, I unload them and put them away. Just be aware of you surroundings and you will be safe with a gun.

“I’ve never wanted to own a gun. In fact, in my former days as a liberal, I was one of those singing the mantra of gun control.”

I thought previous history of mental illness kept you from getting a permit?

Over the last few weeks and months, Muslims have issued attacks on Americans. “One, two, three at a time, what ever you can do, in what ever way you can do it”.

Then there are the gangs. And also, people are losing it, after having lost everything.

Why are you in such turmoil about defending yourself?

The threat is real. It is here. They lie in wait.

The author is not yet really a conservative. He has a liberal view of human nature. Somehow, it is surprising to him that there are folks around who think it’s funny to drive around and shoot at people. And he resents needing to do something about that.

IMHO, a “deeply fallible and sometimes downright evil” view of human nature is usually the fundamental dividing line between liberals and conservatives. In general, conservatives aren’t surprised by the existence of shooters—although they may be surprised it happened to them.

Mr Ashley, please do not get a gun. As a liberal favoring gun control, it is your duty not to fight back when attacked and to DIE like you and your ilk would have us do under the circumstances you described.

In the last few weeks I, I mean a friend of mine, has bought a Para Ordinance .45 and a Ruger 10/22. That completes my, I mean his “essential” gun collection. He now has a gun for every occasion, from the lone person trying to car jack him to the golden hoard trying to steal his supplies. The only problem is, if I, meaing him, of course, got in a bad situation, he would probably get shot trying to figure out which gun to use. He needs a gun caddy to help me decide.

In fact, in my former days as a liberal, I was one of those singing the mantra of gun control.

Well the a$$hole should practice what he preached. No gun for you buddy, just big fat wet kisses from upchuckie Schumer and Diane Feinswine - if their armed bodyguards let you get that close.

Sounds like some kids shot a pellet gun at him, so now he wants to be Rambo.

Maybe guns in the hands of libs isn’t such a good idea...

Tow observatins about the author:

1. “I whipped out my phone and dialed 911 and, within minutes there were two sheriff’s cars on the scene and another half-dozen or so combing the area north of Safety Harbor, but by then the punks could have been just about anywhere.” Yup. And you don’t want to live in an area that has a cop on every street corner. Not a nice atmosphere.

2. “I’d rather shove the gun up the shooter’s behind and pull the trigger.” Thankfully, the deputy knew I was kidding. Never, ever, make a statement to the police, except with a deep tone of concern in your voice, and never make jokes. Your tone of voice will not be recorded in the officer’s notebook. If one of those folk involved in the drive-by ends up at room temperature, the author’s name will be remembered.

Too much navel gazing here. Do your research and find the best firearm(s) for you. End of story. I will however allow a little lattitude here. Just like Juan Williams, the conversion takes time. We don’t see it yet, but the seeds are there....

I have more guns than even the gummint knows and I love them all.

My 12 years old grandson and my son and I went doe hunting last Friday {special early season for young'uns, military and old gezzers.

I took a 357, not to hunt, but I never go without one, and my grandson carried my first 30-30, lever action so he thought he was carrying a "John Wayne" rifle.

My son got one at 9:00 AM and the young one got his at 5:30 PM.

I'm a super happy father and grandpa.

Both were beautiful deer and the young one had "one shot, one kill" through the heart shot. I couldn't script it better.

My oldest grandson got his first last season and my eight year old grand daughter is now shooting 22 with her dad and me. She has 4 years before she can hunt, and she can't wait.

This post is off topic but I'm so happy, that I had to share.

After his rant and decision to buy a gun, he add this final note:

Some accomplishment, America.

Instead of examining his own liberal agenda as a cause of his dilemma, he blames the country itself. It's like a California democrat complaining about the state's debt.
