A union stagehand and father was fired by his union supervisor for wearing a pro-military Bush sweatshirt while working. From the LA area comes a shocking-but-true story of the heavy hand of liberal censorship, speech control and all-out un-Americanism. The unthinkable offense occurred yesterday as union stagehand Duane Hammond was part of a work crew that was hired to build President Barack "The One" Obama’s platform during an ineffective campaign stop at the campus of USC yesterday. Making matters all the worse was the fact that Hammond was not making a pro-Bush political statement at all: His sweatshirt displayed the name of a ship in the US Navy—the U.S.S. George H. W. Bush—because his son is serving on that very ship! So, in effect, Hammond, for being both patriotic and a good father who was proud of his son, actually got fired by a liberal union supervisor for simply being a decent human being! The liberal hate and intolerance knows no bounds of how low it will sink.

Did the word supervisor enter your consciousness at all when you read the story? The 7union part was just to let you know it was a union shop. The "union" supervisor was the supe that was in charge of the guy and the supe belonged to the union, that is how he could fire the guy, he was the boss.

Seems like double jeopardy in the work place.
If the company could fire him for cause (ignoring safety rules) and the union can fire him for nothing (political correctness) where is his ‘right to work’ protected?

I'm 67 and INMO...We have a seriously "mentally ill" President on our hands.
Things have changed considerably. When I was an AFL-CIO member I was a “process tech” which was a fancy way of saying “foreman”. I had all the power of a company man while still paying union taxes.
I could have had anyone in my department fired at will. Fortunately I’m kinda sadistic and prefered to see them flee under their own power.
And we sit back and wonder why people go postal.

Did someone actually think there was free speech in the USA? Not any more. You lose your job for expressing thoughts that the leftist establishment prohibits. You get arrested for saying something that is not PC. The police come, with handcuffs, mace, nightsticks and guns. Freedom of speech? what a joke!
I wasn’t confused nor have I had any coffee. I worked around union people for 35 years and I had no problem understanding what the article said. I will always speak my mind when I see stupidity and failure to comprehend the written word, especially when it is so obvious. Now take your half assed slander(about the coffee, implying I was all hyper instead of justified in pointing out the obvious)and leave me alone.
I rest my case.
